USOP Taiwan 2024 Highlights: Festival Prize Pools, Winners, Records & More

The U Series of Poker (USOP) Taiwan 2024, held at CTP Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City from January 5 to 15, 2024, was a resounding success. The eleven-day festival drew a large international player turnout and paid out a record NTD 103.6 Million (~USD 3.28 Million) in prizes across a total of 45 trophy events, more than doubling the prizes paid out during its initial visit. Notably, the Main Event garnered 1000 + entries and seven-figure prize pool for the third consecutive time, highlighting its prominence.  The event was ultimately won by Sam Chen Yu Hung for NTD 5,383,700 (~USD 170,500).

Festival’s Biggest Winner – Sam Chen Yu Hung

The biggest highlight of the recently-concluded festival was its main event that drew 1,100 entries for a prize pool of NTD 32,010,000 (~USD 1,030,500) and became the brand’s third consecutive main event with 1000 + entries and seven-figure prize pool. Taiwan’s Sam Chen Yu Hung shipped the coveted main event to emerge the single largest tournament earner and the festival’s biggest earner. Hung pocketed a massive career high payout of NTD 5,383,700 (USD 170,500). He was followed by Hong Kong’s Hon Cheong Lee who posted five cashes, racking up INT 4,989,700 in prize money.

Taiwan Claims Most Trophies

The series was dominated by Taiwanese players. They came out all guns blazing, claiming as many as 23 trophies. Taiwan was followed by Malaysia and South Korea claiming 5 trophies each. France (4), Australia (4), Hong Kong (2), and Japan (1) were other countries in the coveted list of trophy winners.

Rajeev Kanjani Was The Only Indian To Cash

While there were several Indian players in attendance, it was only Rajeev Kanjani who cashed the series. The well-known pro achieved a remarkable 4th place finish in the USOP Taiwan 2024 Event #34: Mystery Rush Bounty, claiming NTD 53,400 in prize money.

Riding high on the success of its recent event in Taiwan, USOP is now gearing up for their next event which is set to take place from March 19 to April 1, 2024 in Da Nang, Vietnam. The brand’s last event at this location generated a record-breaking festival prize pool of VN₫ 163,438,680,000 (~USD 6,741,140).
