Event #16 $1,700 NLH Main Event WSOP Circuit Final Day

The event featured three starting flights followed by two additional days of play. The final day started with 12 players battling for the title, with Pantaleo having a significant chip lead. But he would lose and gain chips throughout the day. Pantaleo wasn’t the only player with a chip lead, as he found himself in a near tie for the chip lead with the runner-up Peter Hengsakul.

Peter Hengsakul showed his dominance in the final table by eliminating the first two players. Hengsakul won two preflop coin flips against Nicholas Marchington, who finished 9th for $17,838, and Baise Ingoglia, who finished in 8th place and earned $22,565.

Mario Colavita eliminated the two-time ring winner  Kevin Calenzo. Calenzo was eliminated in 7th place and received $28,900. Baurzhan Asimov’s tournament journey came to an end due to a preflop cooler situation. His pocket jacks had no match with Hengsakul’s pocket kings. Asimov finished in 6th place and earned $37,466.

Pocket Kings might have helped Hengsakul, but it didn’t help Harvey Alegado. Alegado’s Pocket Kings were unable to withstand Jonah Labranche’s A-8. Labranche’s A-8 later improved to a pair of aces on the turn. Alegado finished in 5th place for $49,158. Hengsakul’s A-Q hand won against Colavita’s Pocket threes, resulting in Colavita finishing in 4th place and earning $65,271.

During three-handed play, Pantaleo experienced fluctuations in his chip stack but managed to regain the lead just before the third elimination. Pantaleo’s K-J hand won against Labranche’s K-6 suit. Labranche was eliminated in 3rd place for $87,689.

By the heads-up, Pantaleo had a significant chip lead over Hengsakul. Pantaleo began the heads-up match with a chip lead of 14,000,000 compared to Hengsakul’s 6,000,000. On the final hand, Hengsakul went all-in with Js-10h against Pantaleo’s Ad-7h. The community card showed Q♠ 4♥2♣ 9♥ Q♣, giving Pantaleo an ace-high hand. Pantaleo won the final hand and the prize money, while Hengsakul was the runner-up and earned $119,182.
