Prominent Mental Health Expert Joins SOGI To Promote Responsible Gaming

Skill Online Games Institute (SOGI) has appointed Dr. Yatan Pal Singh to its advisory board. Dr. Balhara is best known for his knowledge and expertise in mental health and addictive disorders. He joined the SOGI and is a major part of their mission to promote responsible gaming practices and industry growth. Dr. Balhara currently holds the position of Secretary General at the World Association on Dual Disorders (WADDl) and offers consulting services to reputable organizations like the World Health Organization and UNODC. His joining the advisory board will surely help SOGI achieve its aim.

The Founder president of SOGI, Mr. Amrit Kiran Singh, shared his gratification toward Dr. Balhara’s appointment to the advisory board, emphasizing the valuable contribution he would bring to the organization and their aim of promoting responsible gaming practices. 

Dr. Balhara expressed his excitement about joining SOGI and addressing the issue of mental health and online gaming through teamwork. He also commented that he is eager to collaborate with SOGI members to promote responsible gaming practices and improve the overall well-being of gamers. 

With over two decades of experience, Dr. Balhara manages the Dual Diagnosis Clinic and Behavioral Addiction Clinic at India’s most reputable medical Institute All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi. As part of his role at SOGI, he will provide his strategic direction on mental health, addictive behaviors, and eHealth. His expertise will help SOGI in their main aim of player well-being. 

Earlier this year, SOGI welcomed various renowned people to their advisory board, including Shivani Jha, a tech policy lawyer and the leader of E-Gamers & Player Welfare Association(EPWA), and Yashvardhan Sinha, IFS, Former Chief Information Commissioner of India. SOGI acknowledges the growing Skilled Online Gaming industry in India and globally. 

SOGI isn’t the only organization to think about players’ mental health, as the Maharashtra Health Department already started an initiative to tackle mental health issues related to Online gaming. These initiatives are good for Indian gamers, and they will help them in some way.
