Ankit Ahuja Continues to Reign Supreme in GPI India Rankings and Global Poker Scene

Ankit Ahuja, a seasoned poker professional and rising star in global poker, has ascended to the pinnacle of the Global Poker Index (GPI) India Rankings. With an impressive score of 3,141.88 points, Ahuja currently holds the top position in the Indian rankings on the GPI leaderboard. Notably, his stellar performance also places him at an impressive 33rd position among global poker players.

Ankit Ahuja’s Notable Performances and Achievements

Ahuja started this year with a bang, and by January 2024, had managed to climb to the 40th spot. Since then, he has continued to be among the top 40 players among the global poke players. He ended February at the 34th spot. Eventually, after slipping down to the 37th place in mid-March, Ahuja ended his March campaign at the 33rd spot. 

Similarly, his current Player of the Year ranking stands at 129th position. He was most recently seen cashing at the No Limit Hold’em – Irish Open High Roller 8-Max Event #8 on Mar 26 and 27, 2024 at the Royal Dublin Society in Ireland. Here he cashed at the 14th spot out of 111 entries and pocketed €8,700. With that finish, he also added 135.16 points to his rankings. 

He started 2024 with the World Poker Tour – WPT Cambodia Championship held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in January 2024. The only event he cashed here was the No Limit Hold’em – WPT Main Event. He finished at the 79th place among 760 entries and added $6,641 to his bankroll. 

He spent his February in the city of Paris, grinding on the poker tables of Palais des Congrès at the European Poker Tour – EPT Paris. Here he cashed at five events in just 10 days. Starting with his 519th finish at Event #1 No Limit Hold’em – FPS Main Event from 4,149 entries for a paycheque of €1,890. He then recorded a 4th place finish at Event #2 No Limit Hold’em for an impressive €19,400. Event #10 No Limit Hold’em – FPS Cup had Ahuja finishing 243rd out of 1,603 entries for €1,000.

He was also seen grinding at Event #13 No Limit Hold’em – FPS High Roller, wherein he finished 191st from 1,794 entries taking home a sum of €3,860. Lastly, he concluded the series by finishing 17th among 997 entries at Event #26 + 1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Mystery Bounty for a handsome  €12,300.

Earlier in March 2024, he was seen grinding at the Eureka Poker Tour – EKA at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Here he cashed at two events. First at the No Limit Hold’em – Eureka Main Event, finishing fourth out of 1,526 entries for €77,800. He later wrapped up the series cashing €8,122 for his 3rd place finish at the No Limit Hold’em Event #25 Super High Roller.

GPI India Leaderboard Top 10 Players

Talking of the Indian contingent on GPI India Rankings, Ahuja is followed by India’s one and only Triton Poker champion Santhosh Suvarna at the second position with 2,793.61 points. At the third place is WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved with 2,019.54 points, followed by India’s first solo WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer at the fourth spot with 1,919.02 points. At the fifth spot is Amit Kaushik with 1,685.09 points. 

Other Indian players among the top 10 GPI India Rankings are Nipun Java, Zarvan Tumboli, Vishal Ojha, Natural8 India ambassador Kunal Patni, and Apoorva Goel at the 6th to 10th spot in that respective order. Notably, Ahuja and Suvarna are the only two Indian players among the top 100 GPI Rankings of global poker players.
