Sipila Crowned 2024 PGT PLO Series Champion; Davies & Calderaro Win Final Events

More than half of Samuli Sipila’s live tournament earnings were recorded in the past week. The Finnish pro accumulated $776,140 in prize money on the back of four ITM finishes during the ten-event 2024 PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha Series, securing two titles. As a result, Sipila emerged as the champion of the festival-long points race with 749 PGT points.

As the 2024 PGT PLO series champion, he was awarded yet another trophy and a $10,000 PGT Passport. Sipila also climbed into third place in the season-long PGT points standings and now trails only Dylan Weisman (1,047 points) and David Coleman (937 points).

Samuli Sipila’s PGT PLO Series Results

Sipila started off his PLO hot streak with a win in the fourth event of the series, a $10,100 buy-in tournament where he outlasted 89 entries to earn $240,300 and 240 PGT points. Two days after that title, Sipila bagged a seventh-place showing in another $10,100 buy-in PLO event, adding $34,000 and 34 PGT points to his tally.

Later, the player won Event #7: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty of the PGT PLO Series where he emerged victorious from a 74-entry field , earning 270 points and $159,840 from the top prize money as the champion. He also earned $239,000 in bounty payouts from that event, bringing his overall haul to $1,015,140.

He then competed in Event #9: $25,200 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship of the PLO series and ultimately finished as the runner-up, earning a career-high score of $342,000 and 205 points to conclude with an 184-point margin of victory over Eelis Parssinen in the final PGT PLO leaderboard tally.

Seth Davies Takes Down PGT PLO Series $25K PLO Championship for $522,000

Topping the field in the 2024 PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha Series Event #9: $25,200 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship was none of Seth Davies, who emerged victorious from a field of 72 entries to win the top prize of $522,000. Davies, a WPT main event champion, now has nearly $25.8 million in live earnings. This was the first title and ninth final-table finish of the year for Davies and he is now ranked sixth in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker.

He eventually defeated Sipila in the heads-up, who began the duel holding 8,170,000 to Davies’ 6,225,000. The latter began well and pulled away to edge into the lead. However, Sipila fought back to regain the lead. Davies moved ahead again and was able to ship the title. On the final hand, Sipila had  As Qd 7h 4s against the Ks Kc 6c X. The paired board with 5 fives did not help Sipila and Davies won the title with kings and fives.

James Calderaro Wins Event #10: $5,100 PLO Dealer’s Choice to Secure 1st PGT Title

The 2024 PGT PLO Series at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, came to a conclusion with Event #10: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Dealer’s Choice, which was won by James Calderaro.

Calderaro made his debut in the PGT PLO Series with an 11th-place finish in Event #8: $15,100 PLO for $37,500 and then followed that up with a win in the final event for $56,700. This was Calderaro’s first PGT title and his first PLO win since his only WSOP bracelet in the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller at the 2017 WSOP. Calderaro now has $5,850,000 in live tournament earnings.

The final event of the 2024 PGT PLO Series drew 21 entrants and paid the final three players. After the elimination of William Leffingwell on the bubble in fourth place, Alex Condon went out in third place for $16,800 in prize money. Calderaro held a slight chip lead over Allan Le in the heads-up.

With chips trading back-and-forth between both players, it was Calderaro who finally shipped the title. On the final hand, all the chips went in on the flop with Calderaro ahead with his overpair. Le held a flush draw and backdoor straight. The turn and river bricked out, Le was eliminated in second place for $31,500.
