Eric Baldwin Secures Third MSPT Venetian Title, Scoops $90,692 Prize

The two-time bracelet winner, Eric Baldwin, is based out of Las Vegas. He has over $1.6 million in live earnings at the venue. Out f his total 38 career victories, over 15 have taken place at The Venetian Resot Las Vegas.

Baldwin’s latest victory saw him defeating a competitive field of 550 entries in the Mid-States Poker Tour Venetian main event at the DeepStack Extravaganza  festival. This was his second MSPT title of the year and earned him $90,692.

Baldwin is now a three-time MSPT champion, with all his victories coming at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Over a month before this main event triumph, Baldwin had won the $1,100 MSPT Venetian tournament, outlasting 274 entries for $55,261. He had scored his first win in 2019, which saw him earn $80,872 after overcoming a 377-entry field in the $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em $250K GTD event.

With the 550-entry field, a total of $530,750 prize pool was collected in this  $1,100 buy-in main event. The top 61 finishers shared the prize pool, with two-time bracelet winner Shannon Shorr (10th – $8,823) falling as the final table bubble.

Baldwin held the lead among the final tablists, with Bogdan Chornyy being hot on his heels. WPT champion Ky Nguyen (9th – $10,933) was the first elimination from the final table and he was followed by Luke Wasikowski (8th), Bill Croft (7th), Dung Ho (6th), and Ankush Mandavia (5th).

After Victorino Torres (4th) and Darren Rabinowitz (3rd), it came to the heads-up between Chornyy (9,570,000) and Baldwin (4,180,000). The latter was able to battle his way back into the lead and finally seize the title.

On the final hand, Chornyy shoved with Ah 2c and Baldwin made the call with Kc 8d. The board delivered 8s 6 3s 10s Qd, giving Baldwin a pair of eights to win the coveted title and the top $90,692 prize.
