APT Jeju 2024 KRW 2.5M Main Event Final Quick Recap

Unfolding at the Landing Hotel & Casino in Jeju Shinhwa World, the APT Jeju 2024 KRW 2.5M Main Event saw 15 players return to action on the final day for the award-winning 24K Gold Lion APT Main Event trophy. While all returning players were assured a minimum KRW 21,410,000 (~USD 15,550), they had their eyes on the tour’s largest-ever South Korean top prize of KRW 429,292,500 (~USD 311,735).

It was Sergei Kim who returned for the final day in pole position with 73 big blinds. Luo began the day as second in the counts with a stack of 55 big blinds, only trailing Sergei Kim on the leaderboard.

The Chinese player Luo took a few early hits before scoring his first knockout and sending compatriot Erdun Xu to the rail in ninth. He then eliminated Sergei Kim in fifth place to take command of the final table.

Luo eliminated five of the nine finalists on his road to victory. The most crucial pot for him was when he spiked a set of tens on the river to score a double elimination, sending his fellow countryman Jian Han (4th) and UK’s Jason Wong (3rd) to the rail and seizing close to 80 %t of the chips in heads-up play.

Heads-up against his fellow countryman Jianfeng Sun lasted only 15 hands. On the final hand,  Sun’s As 9d was leading Luo’s Ad 5s. A five on the flop sealed the deal, granting Luo his third APT title – his second of the series. Luo’s victory earned him a career-best score, moving him into the #10 spot on the China All-Time Money List and bringing his live earnings up to over a massive USD 3 million.

From Team India, Deepak Vansil and Ish Agarwal cashed in the 2024 APT Jeju MainEvent. Vansil clinched the 109th spot, winning KRW 48.50 Million, while Agarwal finished 155th, taking home KRW 39.70 Million.
