He topped all of his previous scores last Sunday when he beat a field of 822 entries to win the $1,110 buy-in Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Bally’s Black Hawk Casino Main Event for a career-best score of $155,189.

This was his second title of the year, having shipped a $600 buy-in event at the Harrah’s Council Bluffs Holiday Poker Classic in the first week of 2024. Nuwwarah, one of the hosts of the football betting podcast Gridiron Gamble, has already cashed over $200,000 in POY earnings this year. Talking about his latest win to MSPT reporters, he said, “It feels great. I mean, I started playing these events when I started covering them for work and that was about 10 years ago so, I had a couple of close shaves but was finally able to close one out.”

Nuwwarah came into the final table as the short stack and then cracked pocket aces with  a rivered flush for his pocket kings to move up the counts.
