The intensity and excitement escalate at the ongoing 2024 PokerStars €5,300  buy-in EPT Paris Main Event as the field dwindles to just 57 contenders from a record field of 1,747 entries, making it the sixth largest turnout in EPT history. Leading the remaining 57 players is Greek pro Panagiotis Mavritsakis with a stack of 2,930,000 in chips.

Hot on his heels are Canadian pro Eric Afrait (2,300,000) and the UK’s Tom Middleton (2,190,000). Mavritsakis has already amassed €200,000 in career earnings. His biggest score came last April for his third place in the Irish Open Main Event for €161,500. He will be eyeing a  victory here, aiming to clinch not only his first EPT title but also his career’s largest live score.

While each of the remaining 57 contenders is guaranteed a minimum of €19,850, they all will be striving to climb the ladder and secure a spot at the coveted final table. The ultimate prize for the winner at the final table is a coveted €1,287,800, along with the prestigious main event trophy.

Top 5 Chip Counts After The End Of Day 3

  1. Panagiotis Mavritsakis -2,930,000
  2. Eric Afriat – 2,300,000
  3. Tom Middleton – 2,190,000
  4. Lorenzo Arduini – 2,050,000
  5. Mathias Siljander – 1,750,000

Day 3 saw a total of 222 contenders, with Canada’s Eliot Hudon (955,000) leading the pack. Among the returning players were two Indians, Sahil Chutani and Santhosh Suvarna, the latter having secured his first World Series of Poker Europe bracelet in November 2023. Chutani, a familiar face on the European circuit, commenced the day with 359,000 chips, the 49th largest stack. Unfortunately, he couldn’t progress to Day 4, bowing out in 78th place and earning him an impressive €17,250 payout. Suvarna, starting his Day 3 with 136,000 chips, concluded his journey in 139th place, earning €13,100.

This deep finish in the main event marked Chutani’s first cash at the ongoing series, following his recent notable performances in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour and a title at the 2023 FPS Aix en Provence Mystery Bounty. This was also the first cash of the series for Suvarna, known for his victory in the Triton Poker Super High Roller and his bracelet win at the 2023 WSOP Europe. Interestingly, Suvarna will feature the coveted Hustler Casino Live’s $1 Million Game returning in May this year.

In this main event, five Indians made it to Day 2. Unfortunately, WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer, along with Apoorva Goel, and Krishna Madhariwar failed to secure the payouts as they exited on Day 2 itself.
