Malaysian Poker Pro Kok Weng Beh Passes Away at 42

Kok Weng Beh, a well-known poker player from Malaysia who amassed over $885k in live tournaments earnings, passed away at the age of 42. While the cause for Beh’s passing not revealed, his impact on the poker community was widely recognized. Both Poker Dream and Triton Poker Series shared social media posts, paying tribute to the high-stakes poker player.

In its condolence post, Poker Dream noted that Beh was “instrumental in shaping what Poker Dream is today.”

Triton Poker also shared the news of Beh’s death on their social media handle, noting that his “legacy lives on in the cards and community (he) helped shape.”

Beh’s Poker Career

Beh’s first live cash came in November 2010 at the Macau Poker Cup Championship, and subsequently, he took part in various prestigious live tournaments across the world, including World Poker Tour, Poker Dream Manila, APPT Asia events, and Triton Poker Super High Roller Series.

By the late 2010s, Beh had acceded to high stakes, primarily playing high roller tournaments, notably the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series events. In 2019, this Malaysian pro made headlines with a final-table finish at the Triton Jeju event, placing fifth for a career-best $387,315. He continued his momentum, and a few months later at Triton Montenegro, he secured another fifth-place finish for $158,073.

In 2023, he secured a tenth place finish for PHP 412,000 in the 2023 Poker Dream Manila Main Event and a second-place finish for RM 469,000 ($ 100,973) in the Super High Roller (Event #15) of 2023 Poker Dream 6 Malaysia. His most recent cash came last month in the Single Day High Roller (Event #8) of Poker Dream 8 – Malaysia where he finished twelfth for RM 19,000 ($ 4,021).
