The action at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) intensifies with the most-awaited $10K buy-in Main Event kicking off today. Meanwhile, USA’s David Eldridge is the latest bracelet winner at the ongoing series. He overcome a 476 entry-field and defeated poker Hall-of-Famer Brian Rast heads-up in Event #73: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha to claim his second WSOP bracelet and the $2,246,728 top prize – his biggest-ever WSOP cash till date.
He won his first WSOP bracelet in 2021 when he took down the $1,000 buy-in buy-in Mini Main No-Limit Hold’em on WSOP.com for $41,553 at the 52nd Annual World Series of Poker. With the latest win, he is now a proud two-time WSOP champion and has grown his WSOP earnings to $378,362.
“I’m feeling good, it was a long four days but things works out,” Eldridge said shortly after claiming his lastest WSOP win.
WSOP 2024 Event #73: $25,000 High Roller PLO Quick Recap
This event ran over the course of four days and generated a whopping $11,186,000 prizepool, which was finally shared by the top 72 players. Plenty of notables cashed, including WSOP bracelet winners Gus Hansen (71st- $50,211), Dylan Linde (68th – $50,211), Christopher Frank (64th – $50,211), Frank Brannan (63rd – $50,211), five-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman (52nd for $50,211), Stephen Chidwick (40th – $52,722), two-time bracelet winner Michael Moncek (25th – $71,297), Alex Livingston (21st – $85,519) and two-time bracelet winner Kahle Burns (20th – $85,519).
On the final day, six-time bracelet winner Rast entered as one of the short stacks alongside Juha Helppi, but managed to chip up. He scored a key double up after going runner-runner to crack Eldridge’s bottom set and then busted Helppi in fifth place to assume the chip lead.
After losing a few small pots, China’s Yang Wang found himself on the short stack. He finally shoved his remaining stack against Eldridge after flopping a straight draw against Eldridge’s two pair. Eldridge made a full house on the turn to eliminate Wang in fourth place.
Three-handed play began with Ethan Cahn scoring a double up against Eldridge to even out their stacks. Not long after, Rast made the nuts with Broadway, leaving Cahn on the short stack. While Cahn managed to double up again with aces against Rast, he was finally out in third after running ace-king-queen-deuce into Rast’s ace-queen-six-five all in preflop. Rast turned straight to win the pot and bust his opponent.
Rast entered the heads-up with the chip lead against David Eldridge. The latter quickly edged into chip lead after winning a few hands, including a hand with a set over set. While Rast was able to regain the chip lead, Eldridge fought back into the lead. After a back-and-forth battle from there on, Eldridge moved ahead and eventually shipped it. Rast made his last move with ace-ten-eight-six double suited all in preflop, but he couldn’t win the flip against Eldridge’s ace-queen-nine-seven, falling just shy of his seventh bracelet.
