The 23-year-old William Oertling, who started his poker career two years ago, has finally achieved the first victory of his live poker career by winning the $1 million GTD 2025 Beau Rivage Heater Main Event earning $216,888. This marks his first live poker victory, pushing his total live tournament earnings from $18,750 to over $230,000. Before entering the Main Event, Oertling participated in Beau Rivage’s Rookie Event. Unfortunately, that event didn’t go well as he left empty handed, which he recovered from the Main Event.
The $1,200 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event drew an impressive field of 1,755 entries across four starting flights, generating a prize pool of $1,842,750 . The top four finishers confirmed a six-figure payout, and 189 players were confirmed a mini-cash of $2,027.
2025 Beau Rivage Heater Main Event Final Table Quick Recap
Day 3 of the tournament began with 33 players, led by Richard Sinclair. After hours of intense play, the field whittled down to nine. Gabriel Andrade was the first to fall off the final table when his ace-king ran into the pocket queens of Oertling. The board favored Oertling sending Andrade out in 9th for $32,617.
Oertling soon eliminated short-stack Russell Boyette in 8th place after Boyette’s ace-queen met Oertling’s pocket aces. The board brought a queen on the flop, which was worthless against the pocket rockets. Dylan Lemery and Andrew Dykeman soon followed the railbirds in 7th and 6th place respectively, earning $48,883 and $62,283 payday. During the elimination, Oertling took over chip leader.
Cody Stanford looked down at his ace-king and open-shoved, David Cook with nines made the call to save his tournament life. The flop favored Cook, but an ace on the turn ended the impressive deep run of Cook in 5th place for a $80,528 payday. 2010 WSOP Main Event final tabelist John Dolan finished 4th for a $159,829 payday, while Stanford finished in the podium pocketing $168,923.
Oertling and Jordan Meltzer came face-to-face for the main event and chose to opt for an ICM Chop. The 23-year-old Oertling was the chip leader in the deal to scoop his first six-figure score of $216,888, coveted Champion’s Belt, and the trophy. Meltzer took home $190,531 for his runner-up finish.
