The Women’s Winter Festival, which is sponsored by PokerStars, is currently in full swing at London’s Hippodrome Casino . The inaugural festival kicked off on November 21 and will continue through November 24. One of the key highlights at the festival, the £1,100 Women’s High Roller, has concluded crowning a champion in England’s Charlie Waters.
Waters, who now has $166,921 in live tournament earnings, topped a star-studded field of 27 entries and overcame compatriot Jennifer Steele, claiming the coveted title and £10,020 for her first-place finish. This marked her first live title of 2024 and her career’s fifth victory overall.
Waters outlasted a star-studded final table featuring PokerStars Online member Georgina James, PokerStars Team Pro member Jen Shahade, this month’s UKIPT High Women’s Event champion Maria Lampropulos, EPT Barcelona Women’s event champion, Soraya Estrada, who fell two spots shy of her second women’s event title, falling in third place. In her final hand, Estrada holding Q-5 moved all in for 72,000. Jennifer Steele called with K-9. Steele flopped a king pair and held from there, ending the Spaniard’s remarkable run in third place (£4,200).
The final table was headlined by the battle between Steele and Waters, who made it to the heads-up and battled it out fiercely for the title. The heads-up began with Waters starting the duel as the chip leader and managed to use her advantage to chip up and eventually win the title. On the final hand, Jennifer Steele with Kc 10h moved all in for 216,000 from the button. Charlie Waters, in the big blind, called holding 9h 9c. With the board running out 2-3-7-8-Q, Waters’ pocket pair held to send Steele to the rail, earning herself the trophy, title and £10,200.
This high roller event generated a prize pool of £25,920, which was shared finally by the top five finishers. Here is a quick look at payouts!
