Women continue to dominate at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taipei Poker Classic, which is set to conclude today. Following impressive victories by Sachiko Uchihara, Tsui Han Hsiao, Man Yi Ng and Hsu Fei Hsuan, two more female poker pros etched their name into poker history: Japan’s Mayuko Morita & Taiwan’s Yun Ting Chen. Mayuko Morita Secures Third APT Title in APT Taipei Event #88: Super Hyper Turbo
Japan’s Mayuko Morita has been a dominant force at the APT series. She solidified her reputation even further, claiming her third APT title with a victory in Event #88: Super Hyper Turbo. Morita outlasted a competitive field of 93 entries (84 unique), continuing Japan’s impressive form throughout the series. She earned TWD 144,964 (~USD 4,437) for her first victory of the ongoing series.
Overall, this was her third live poker title of 2024, following her victory in Hyper Turbo Deuces Wild (Event #59) and HighRoller KO Bounty Turbo 6Max in Taipei city. Her first live title came in 2022 when she shipped Single Day (Event #8) at the APT Korea Incheon to claim her first APT title and an impressive $ 13,042 in top prize money.
Morita eventually faced South Korea’s Gibaek Lee in heads-up play. The latter could not go all the way, ultimately finishing in second place for TWD 101,000 (~USD 3,092). Hong Kong’s Hok Hei Ngai rounded out the podium, taking home TWD 67,000 (~USD 2,050) for her third-place finish.

Taiwan’s Yun Ting Chen Wins Event #95: Hyper Turbo – PL Courchevel Hi-Lo – 5 Card
Another female to make waves at the APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 was Taiwan’s Yun Ting Chen, who shipped Event #95: Hyper Turbo – PL Courchevel Hi-Lo – 5 Card, following two prior final table scores in the ongoing series. Chen overcame a competitive field of 73 entries (63 unique), securing TWD 74,170 (~USD 2,258) in top prize money. Her perseverance throughout the series paid off handsomely as she finally claimed the victory at a tough final table dominated by local players from Taiwan.
This was the first title for Chen whose first live cash came just last year when she finished 4th in the All Japan Poker Championship Ladies Event for $628.
Chen eventually bested fellow Taiwanese player King-Chung Wang in heads-up. The latter took home TWD 62,339 (~USD 1,897) as the runner-up finisher. Another local with promising results in this series, Ming Chang Hsiao rounded out the podium, taking home TWD 58,339 (~USD 1,775).
