The 2023 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas is now in its final phase with just 16 players remaining in contention for the coveted title and the top prize worth $5,678,000. After the end of Day 5, only 16 players remain, and leading them is USA’s Ben Jacobs with 46.40 Million chips (77 big blinds) at his disposal.
Close behind Jacobs are poker elites like Maxime Chilaud with 38.20 million chips, Artur Martirosian with 36.20 million, Carl Shaw with 29 million, and Daniel Sepiol with a stack of 27.90 million chips. While each of the remaining players is assured at least $291,700, they will have their eyes on the top prize of $5,678,000.
In the spotlight from India, Ankit Ahuja started Day 5 with 6.95 Million chips. Despite his valiant efforts, he could not advance further and his journey in the prestigious tournament ended in 34th place. He took home $132,500 for his remarkable performance. This happens to be his third-largest live score of 2023 and the best WPT score.
2023 has been a break-out year for Ahuja as he has solidified his position as the fourth top earner on India’s all-time money list, with his live earnings now crossing $2.47 Million. His best score this year came for his win in the 2023 EPT Cyprus Event #5: $1,100 NLHE Eureka Main Event, which earned him a hefty $362,365.
