Jake Betts Is the Newest UK Poker Championship
The £500,000 GTD UK Poker Championships Main Event saw a turnout of 1,332 entries inside the Dusk Till Dawn poker room, smashing the guarantee for a £639,360 prize pool. As the field narrowed down, it was the top 197 players who collected a piece from the six-figure prize pool.
The event saw a new name etched on its history, as Jake Betts captured the 2025 UK Poker Champion title and a career-defining £85,270 payout. Betts, who previously had just seven live cash-in tournaments with total live earnings of $5,260, has now brought his earnings past $90k.
Betts defeated tournament grinder David Lloyd in a long grueling heads-up that lasted for almost four hours. The heads-up ultimately ended after Lloyd shoved after making a straight, only to be called by Betts’ King-high straight. Lloyd collected £83,730 after a heads-up deal with Betts.
