Winning one High Roller event is impressive, but winning three in a row at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague is an extraordinary achievement. The young gun Thomas Santerne accomplished this feat with ease, placing him among the elites of poker.
Santerne won the first €20,000 High Roller, followed that with a €50,000 EPT Super High Roller victory, and concluded his run with a €25,000 Super High Roller Second Chance—all within one week. The hat trick of victories earned Santerne a total of $733,494, pushing his live career earnings past the $5 million mark.
His recent victory came in the €25,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller Second Chance. The two-day event attracted a small but star-studded field of 11 players, generating a €213,750 prize pool, shared among the top three.

The final table was formed on Day 2 with Markkos Ladev as the chip leader and Santerne among the short stacks. Online poker legend Niklas Astedt was the first player eliminated from the final table. He had previously finished as runner-up in the €50,000 SHRS but this time failed to cash. EPT Main Event champion Steve O’Dwyer was eliminated next by Ladev.
Ladev, however, soon had only a few big blinds left after a costly bluff against Santerne. He then went all in with pocket sevens and was called by Derk van Luijk with king-ten. A king on the board ended Ladev’s run.
The money bubble burst when Santerne eliminated Viacheslav Buldygin. Buldygin called all-in with pocket fives against Santerne’s ace-ten. Although the flop favored Buldygin, two tens on the turn and river sent him out on the bubble.
Santerne extended his lead further, eliminating three-time WSOP bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel in third place. Kabrhel called all-in preflop with five-four suited, but his trip fives were no match for Santerne’s full house. Santerne, holding pocket aces, rivered a full house, eliminating Kabrhel for €52,000.
The heads-up match lasted over an hour, with the chip lead swinging back and forth between Santerne and Van Luijk. The final hand saw Van Lujik all in with ace-king and Santerne called with eight-six. Santerne hit a six on the river to secure his third high roller title and a €131,250 payday. 2024 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event champion Van Luijk settled for €78,000.
