Here is a recap of Event #8 and James Collopy’s Purple Jacket win.

2024 Poker Masters Event #8: $25,200 NLH Recap

Ben Tollerene, who had taken a break from poker since 2018, returned to the live poker arena in 2022. Since then, he has been playing poker frequently, with some final table finishes throughout the 2024 WSOP and Triton Super High Roller Series.

The Texas native also came close to capturing his first WSOP bracelet in the 2024 WSOP Event #55: $250,000 High Roller, but he ended up as the runner-up, banking a career-high score of $3,537,135.

For his victory in Event #8 of the 2024 Poker Masters, Tollerene collected $510,000, his second $500k+ score, following a $532,000 score in the 2024 Triton Montenegro Event #7.

2024 Poker Masters Event #8 drew an entry-field of 68, creating a total prize pool of $1,700,000, which was paid to the top 10 players. Several well-known players made it to the money, including Jeremy Ausmue (10th – $51,000), Michael Brinkenhoff (9th – $51,000), Justin Zaki (8th – $68,000), Victoria Livschitz (7th – $68,000), Filipp Khavin (6th – $93,500), Aram Zobian (5th – $127,500), and Sam Soverel (4th – $170,000).

Andrew Lichtenberger entered the final table as the chip leader, but as the momentum shifted, Tollerene took over m. Lichtenberger’s final hand came when he shoved with pocket aces against Tollerene’s pocket queens. Tollerene’s hand improved, and Andrew Lichtenberger busted out in 3rd place for $229,500.

Tollerene held a 2:1 chip against Taylor von Kriegenbergh, but Kriegenbergh slowly closed the gap and even reversed the role for a short time before Tollerene pulled ahead.

On the final hand, Kriegenbergh went all in, holding Kd-Jh against Tollerene’s As-6s. The flop came Qd-8d-3d, but the 5s on the turn and river 10s changed nothing. Tollerene won the title and a hefty $510k in top prize and Taylor Von Kriegenbergh collected $331,500 for his runner-up finish.
