The last four tournaments of the Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju 2024 feature short-deck poker games. The initial set of short deck events had buy-ins of $25,000 and $50,000. Michael Watson from Canada won the $25,000 buy-in event to claim his third Triton title and the prize money, while Tan Xuan won the $50,000 buy-in event to clinch a massive prize money.
Mike Watson Wins Event# 16: $25k buy-in Short Deck Event

The $25,000 buy-in short deck events attracted 52 entries and generated a prize pool of $1,300,000. The top nine finishers made money in this event, with Michael Watson from Canada emerging victorious to win his third Triton title and $380,000 prize money. The latest victory boosted Watson’s live earnings to more than $26 million. This was his second Triton title and eighth final table score of the year.

Watson overcame a stacked final table featuring the likes of Triton champion Tan Xuan (8th), four-time Triton champion Wai Kin Yong (6th), four-time Triton champion Mikita Badziakouski (4th), WPT champion Seth Davies (3rd), and Ren Lin (2nd).
Veteran player Lun Loon, who has played 12 Triton series, was the first player to be eliminated early. Despite his experience, the player was defeated by Seth Davies’ strong hand. Lun Loon finished in 7th place for $64,000.
Wai Kin Yong was the next player to be eliminated at the final table. Watson then sent Dong Chen and Mikita Badziakouski packing. Watson’s pocket eights won against Dong Chen’s ace-king and Mikita Badziakouski’s ace-eight with a Full House. Dong Chen was eliminated at number 4th place for $133,000. Mikita Badziakouski was eliminated in 5th place for $104,000.
Down to three-handed play, Seth Davies went all in against Lin, but Davis’ ace -Jack of Spades was no match for Lin’s pocket tens. Davis was eliminated in 3rd place for $177,500.In the heads-up, Watson had a significant chip lead, nearly three times the stack size of Ren Lin.
Watson used his chip lead, and played aggressively. Lin used his pocket sevens and went all-in against Watson. However, his dream was shattered after Watson’s ace-eight held on the board of Kd Jd 9h 9c Js. Watson won the title and took $380,000 home.
Tan Xuan Wins Event # 17: $50k buy-in Short Deck Event

The $50k buy-in Short Deck Event attracted 67 players out of which only 7 players were able to get into the Final Table. Tan Xuan clinched the $922,000 and his second Triton title in the $50k buy-in event.

Rene Van Krevelen started the final table with a significant chip lead, and he extended it further by busting Seth Davies in 7th place. Davies had an ace of spades and nine of spades, Van Krevelen went all against Davies with Jack of Clubs and Queen of Clubs. Van’s hand held against Davies who finished in 7th place for $161,000.
Michael Zhang was the next victim of Van Krevelen. Van Krevelen’s pair of nines defeated Zhang’s pair of aces. Zhang was eliminated at 6th place for $205,000.
The next player to fall was Zhou Quan, who was eliminated in 5th place after a series of unfortunate hands. Quan was eliminated by Xuan in 5th place for $261,000.
After eliminating Quan, Xuan busted the Triton pro player Jasoon Koon who has won 10 Triton Titles. Koon’s suited aces lost against Xuan’s pocket kings, resulting in Koon’s elimination in 4th place for $330,000.
Van Krevelen, who was the fan favorite to win this event, lost against Martin Nielsen. Van Krevelen’s suited king-queen was no match for Nielsen’s pocket queen. Van Krevelen was eliminated in 3rd place for$428,000.
In the final showdown, Xuan’s Ah Jh was able to beat Nielsen’s As Kd. The former hit a flush as the board running out with three hearts and giving Xuan a winning flush. Tan Xuan won his second Triton Title and an impressive $922,000 in top prize.
