The World Series of Poker (WSOP) recently concluded a successful stop of Circuit action with the WSOPC Choctaw series, which took place from January 3 to 14, 2024. Featuring an impressive 18 ring events with $250 to $1,700, the series was highlighted by the $1,700 Main Event, which drew in a field of 851 entries and generated a massive $1,206,069 in the prize pool. Jonathan Glendinning of Boulder, Colorado, overcame the star-studded field to win his first circuit ring and $231,832 top prize.
The WSOPC Event #15: $1,700 Main Event for Glendinning comes on the heels of a massive score in the WPT Prime Championship back in December where he took home a career-best $505,000.
To claim his recent WSOPC main event victory, he overcame a stacked final table featuring several renowned pros. As expected, the short stacks on the table bowed out quickly. The first causality was Brendon Kaufman who fell in eighth place. He was then followed by Alex Cruz and Eric Bunch in seventh and sixth places respectively. Then came a deviation from the trend, with start-of-day chip leader Davis Soskin hitting the rail in fifth place after struggling to find right cards to chip up in the game.
Brad Ruben, who was on the hunt for back-to-back WSOP Circuit Main Event titles, got off to a hot start, chipping up quickly. However, he became short stack after a blind vs. blind confrontation with Will Berry who left him on the short stack. Finally, it all ended for him when he got it in with As 5s against Ah 9h of Chad Lousberg. The board ran out 9s 10d 5h Qc Qs, ending Ruben’s run in fourth place.
Despite scoring a knockout, Lousberg was the next to fall after his Jc 4c ran into Qs Qc of Berry who flopped a set with queens, which was enough for him to take down the pot and bust Lousberg in third place. The heads-up play between Berry and Glendinning began with the former holding the chip lead. A quick double gave Glendinning the edge and the final hand ended it all in an unexpected fashion.

On the final hand, both players went to the flop Kd Jc 10c where Berry bet and Glendinning called. The turn brought the 8s where Berry fired out a sizable bet and Glendinning called. The river came the 7s where Berry moved all-in. Glendinning, who had him covered, called and turned over Kc 3s for top pair. Berry showed Qc 2s for a missed draw and was eliminated in second place for $143,289.
