The 2024 Borgata Spring Poker Open (BSPO) in Atlantic City concluded this week following its  two week-run. The series featured over two dozen events and more than $4 million in guaranteed prizes. The key highlight of the series was the $2,700 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Main Event that saw Florida’s Joel Deutsch topping the 706-player field to win the coveted Borgata trophy and $347,224. This was the largest score for the American pro surpassing his $170,0000 win in the 2021 Prime Poker Open. This latest victory took Deutsch’s lifetime earnings to a whopping $1.1 million.

He defeated a star-studded final table that included the likes of BSPO Championship runner-up Andrew Voor (2nd – $239,654), George Cain (3rd – $165,256) and WPT champion and 2022 Wynn Millions main event winner Tony Sinishtaj (6th – $58,317).

This event did not meet its specified $2,000,000 guarantee, resulting in a $249,120 overlay. The top 103 finishers cashed, with the final four walking away with the six-figure payouts. The final day began with seven players remaining, with Deutsch in the lead. Max Hoffman was the first to fall after his A-10 suited lost to the pocket tens of George Cain. He was followed by Tony Sinishtaj who got it in with K-Q trailing the A-Q of Justin Vaysman. Ace high played by the river and Sinishtaj was busted in sixth.

Carlos Alvarado then ran his K-Q into A-Q. An ace-high runout sent Alvarado packing in fifth place. Deutsch continued on elimination spree with  his A-4 holding against the 9-8 of short stack Justin Vaysman (4th – $108,598). The next player to fall was George Cain whose ace-high bluff on the turn ran into a flopped set of threes for Andrew Voor. He was eliminated in third place ($165,256).

The final showdown saw Deutsch holding a slight lead over Voor. The duel ended in just a few hands. On the final hand, Voor held Ah 2h and Deutsch had Kc Jc. The board ran out Kh 6h 6d Js 4d, giving Deutsch the coveted title and the top $347,224 prize. Voor earned $239,000 as the runner-up finisher.
