The first-ever 888poker UK Poker League (UKPL) Main Event has crowned its champion in Jamie Le. The £560 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event drew in 371 entrants, and Le outlasted them all to clinch the coveted title and £37,605 in top prize money. Le has several live titles under his belt and this was his second main event victory, following the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton Main Event win, which came in October 2022 and earned him a career-best £95,630. His latest score prior to this win came in the 2023 GUKPT Luton Main Event in June when he finished second for £61,600.
The top 56 finishers were paid out in the UKPL Coventry Main Event. Some big names, who found themselves heading to the cashier’s desk, included James Williams, Charles Chattha, Mitch Johnson, Calogero Morreale, Christopher Johnson, Paul Haycock, and Paul Rigg who bubbled the final table.
Paul Whitehead was the first causality from the final table. He committed his last five big blinds with ace-king, and Anthony Kennedy called with pocket nines of spades. The latter hit the flush to win the pot and bust Whitehead in 9th place. Kennedy then sent Paul O’Callaghan who found himself all-in and at risk with pocket fours against Kennedy’s AQ. A queen on the turn ended O’Callaghan’s journey.

The next to fall was the popular Wendy Watson MBE who shoved for 12 big blinds with ace-ten, only for Le to call with the dominating ace-jack. He was followed by Alex Todd who put his 17 big blind stack on the line and was called by Arian Kashani holding ace-king. The latter won the pot and Todd was busted in 6th place. A few hands later, Archie Seaton‘s final table run ended when he ran his pocket jacks into the kings of Kashani. Later, Kennedy open-shoved for 13 big blinds with Q3, and Laidlaw called from the big blind with A7. Laidlaw’s hand held up, and Kennedy crashed out in 4th place. Following the elimination of Arian Kashani in third place, it came to the heads-up battle.
Heads-Up
Kashani had shoved 7.5 big blinds with king-nine, and Laidlaw called with ace-jack. A jack on the flop and an ace on the turn ended Kashani’s journey in third place. The heads-up began with Laidlaw holding a 32 big blind stack to 23 big blind advantage over Le. However, the latter managed to overtake the lead and finally ship it. The final hand saw Le move all-in with AK, and Laidlaw called for his last six big blinds with JT. An ace on the flop and another on the turn busted Laidlaw in second place for a career-best £27,780. Le got his hands on the coveted trophy and £37,605 top prize.
