Team India is sizzling at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia 2024 as the festival inches close to its grand finale. With more than a dozen final table scores and two titles already in their kitty, Indians have been setting the live felts ablaze. Currently in the spotlight is none other than India’s Amit Kaushik, who is now grinding at the final table of the $$3,500 buy-in WPT Cambodia Championship.
Following a 12th place finish at the WPT Championship Warm Up and a commendable 3rd place at the Megastack Action Clock, Kaushik joined the highly-anticipated Championship event and qualified for Day 2 with a stack of 403,000 chips. Aftera an impressive performance on Day 2, the rising Indian poker star continued his momentum into Day 3, reaching the final table with the third largest stack of 5.15 Million chips (69 BBs).
As the final table whittles down to the last six players, Kaushik continues to grind it out. Just a short while ago, he had taken down a crucial pot with his A9 beating the AT of Motoyoshi Okamura on a nine-high board. The excitement for a third Indian title in the series is brewing up as Kaushik aims to make his mark in this high-stakes championship event.
Final Table Chip Counts
Konstantin Held came into the ongoing final table as the chip leader with 7,275,000 chips (97 BBs), closely followed by Jianfeng Sun with 5,475,000 chips (73 BBs). While each of the final tablists is guaranteed at least $42,647 (INR 35.46 Lakhs), the ultimate champion will take home a staggering $441,546 (INR 3.67 Crores) first prize and the prestigious WPT trophy. While Amit Kuashik is making is mark in the WPT Cambodia Championship final table, several other Indian pros made shone in side events. Event #34: Mini High Roller saw two Indians to post final table finishes. Abhijith Cheruku secured a commendable runner-up finish for $51,197 (INR 42.57 Lakhs), while India’s poker star Aditya Agarwal placed sixth, securing a payout of $15,464 (INR 12.86 Lakhs).
The Mini High Roller tournament was finally shipped by China’s Tianyuan Tang who overcame a field of 166 entries in the $2,200 buy-in event, taking home the trophy and an impressive $77,023 top prize.
India’s Binit Saraf notched up an impressive 12th place in Event #33: Mini Championship Freezeout, earning $3,399 ( INR 2.83 Lakhs). Australia’s Yita Choong emerged victorious, winning the title for $39,096. Thailand’s Krit Skulgunbundit secured runner-up place with a payout of $24,784.
