The High Stakes Poker 12 did not air last week due to the U.S. Poker Open and this made fans eagerly await for the return of the PokerGo‘s latest episode on Monday, which brought in jaw-dropping action with the biggest pots on high stakes poker and one of the biggest bad beats that left viewers both amazed and concerned.
The latest episode of the iconic show saw the stakes start at $1,000/$2,000 ($2,000 big blind ante). Each player bought in for a minimum buy-in of $500,000, setting the stage for adrenaline-pumping moments. Among the seasoned poker pros seated at the table were Andrew Robl, India’s high stakes super star Santhosh Suvarna, Nik “Airball” Arcot, Charles Yu, Brandon Adams, and Stanley Tang.
While we saw several six-figure pots during the latest episode, the biggest pot among them was undoubtedly the $992,000 behemoth. The biggest-ever pot on High Stakes Poker unfolded in a riveting showdown between Andrew Robl and India’s high stakes sensation Santhosh Suvarna.
The hand in question began with a straddle from Suvarna, escalating the tension to $4,000. Robl, seizing the opportunity from the small blind, raised the straddle to $16,000 with 5c 4c. Suvarna responded with a three-bet to $54,000, holding Ac Kh. Robl joked with Suvarna before making the call.
Robl’s gamble paid off as he got a perfect flop with 4h 4d 2s, giving him trips and leaving Suvarna in trouble. After the goods on the flop, Robl wanted to win the maximum from Suvarna and so he decided to check, allowing Suvarna to fire out a bet. Suvarna bet $45,000, which Robl called. The Kd on the turn paired Suvarna, providing a glimmer of hope. Both players checked this time around.
Despite a glimmer of hope with the Kd on the turn, Suvarna’s fate seemed sealed until the river card. In an improbable turnaround, the Ks landed on the river. Robl bet out $300k into the $202k pot. Suvarna, left only $395k in his stack, shoved all-in over the top for the extra $95,000. Robl was to call only $95,000 more. He put in the rest of the chips and found that he had lost a $992k pot, the biggest in High Stakes Poker history. Suvarna clinched the victory with a runner-runner suck-out.
