PokerStars has announced Barny Boatman as the newest addition to their prestigious Team Pro roster. Boatman’s ascent to this esteemed position comes hot on the heels of his recent victory at the 2024 European Poker Tour Paris Main Event where he clinched the title and a hefty €1.2 million payday.
“I am excited and honoured to be joining PokerStars and it’s excellent group of ambassadors,” Boatman said. “I know that PokerStars is committed to providing the best experience and playing environment both live and online and I’m particularly looking forward to taking an active part in the Europe Poker Tour and other superb events around the world.”
“We are delighted to welcome Barny Boatman to the PokerStars family,” said Kevin Harrington, CEO at PokerStars. “Barny’s reputation as one of the most respected and accomplished players in the industry precedes him, and we are confident that his insights and contributions will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and evolve as a platform.”
Fondly known as “The Humor,”Barny Boatman is a poker professional from London, United Kingdom and has long been revered as a formidable force in the world of poker. Born on January 10th, 1956, he has amassed an impressive $5,478,615 in live earnings and is currently ranked 14th on England’s All Time Money List.
Boatman is no stranger to success across big live events. He won his first WSOP bracelet back in 2013 when he shipped a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em (Event #49) for $546K. Two years later, he won his second bracelet with a PLO victory at the WSOP Europe in Berlin. In 2022, he took down the EPT London £ 480 + 70 Pot Limit Omaha. His most recent title was a victory at EPT Paris Main Event where he outlasted a field of 1,747 entries, securing a staggering $1,388,059, his career best score.
His legacy in poker not only underscores his exceptional skill but also his association with “The Hendon Mob” – a group of poker luminaries comprising his brother Ross Boatman, alongside Joe Beevers and Ram Vaswani. Together, they have left an indelible mark on the poker landscape.
The origin of The Hendon Mob can be traced back to the formative years of Barney and his brother Ross Boatman. Both of them honed their skills in home games before venturing into tournaments at Edgware Road casino. Their synergy and talent made them legends of the game.
In 2001, The Hendon Mob made waves within the industry with the launch of their website, The Hendon Mob. It served as a hub for showcasing players’ achievements and chronicling the burgeoning European poker scene. Their impact transcended the felt as they pioneered the development of the largest live poker database, offering comprehensive resources for players and enthusiasts worldwide.
The announcement of Boatman’s signing as a Team Pro was met with widespread acclaim. Fellow PokerStars ambassador Lex Veldhuis expressed his excitement on Twitter. He hailed Boatman’s addition as “awesome.” The legend @barnyboatman joined the team. How awesome is that”, he said.
