The 2024 CPG Championship Finals Final Table Recap
Wenqing’s journey was a pure thriller as he lost three all-in, doubled up five times and busted his friend to clinch his maiden title at the 2024 CPG Championship.
Zhang Chuan led the final table, while Cai Wenqing was in the middle of the pack. Philippines Feng Zhao was the only international player at the final table and held the fourth rank in chip lead. Feng Zhao (9th) was the first player to be eliminated at the final table, as he went all-in with pocket jacks against Wang Song’s pocket queens.
Cai Wenqing was in the danger zone of being eliminated but made some double-ups to stay alive at the final table. Ren Haifeng knocked out Pang Wei Ping (8th). Wenqing soon sent out his friend Jiang Zhou soon to the rail for a 7th-place finish. Hu Ruida knocked out Ji Chunhui in the 6th, kicking off the five-handed way.
Cai Wenqing then sent Ren Haifeng to the railbirds in 5th place, climbing the chip ladder further. Wang Song, after doubling up through Wenqing again doubled up again against the chip leader Zhang Chuan, sending Chuan to the danger zone.
Zhang couldn’t get back his stack and eventually exited in 4th place, while table-shorter Hui Ruida bowed out in 3rd. The heads-up battle lasted over 1.5 hours after a forth and back battle between Wenqing and Song.
Wenqing initially held the chip lead, going into the heads-up, but Wang Song soon reversed the role. Wenqing regained the chip lead and held it until the last hand. On the final hand, Wenqing held A♠︎J♦ against Song’s A♣︎9♥︎. The board ran out 5♥︎8♣︎J♥︎3♣︎ Kh, ending Song’s deep run in 2nd place.
