Event #1 $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Final Table Action
Xiao completely dominated in the tournament. He eliminated several players prior to reaching the final table. He eliminated ‘Wei’ on the bubble, winning with Ace Jack against Ace Nine.
Due to his domination prior to the final table, he entered the star-studded final table as the chip lead. He continued his domination by scoring a double knockout against Tom Dwan (8th place – $12,000) and Ge Zhong (9th place – $12,000).
Xiao’s four-trey suit was able to withstand Ge Zhong’s king-queen suit and Dwan’s premium pairs of aces with the help of the community cards. It was a game-changing moment for Xiao, and he never looked back from that point onward. He then eliminated Jian Lu (7th place – $16,000), Travis (6th place – $21,000), and Ken Lin (5th place – $26,000).
Jhon Tanaka decided to limp-call all-in with ace-ten and initially had the lead against Xia Feng’s ace deuce, but a deuce on the flop favored Xia Feng. Jhon Tanka walked out with a prize money of $34,000. Even though Feng eliminated Tanka, he still has a lower chip stack compared to the other two players at the final table.
During the three-handed play, Feng managed to double up twice through Xiao. But it was short-lived as his third double-up ended badly. Feng’s ace six had no match for Xiao’s ace trey, sending him out in 3rd place for $48,000.
Everyone expected an intense and long heads-up play but it was short-lived as Mic three-bet jammed with pocket nines, only to be outdone by Xiao’s tens. A ten on the flop secured the victory for Xiao, while Mic exited the tournament as the runner-up with $78,000 in prize.
