The Poker Dream 17 Malaysia has officially concluded, with Ong Ding Xiang taking down the Main Event. Meanwhile, Team India’s Akshay Nasa brought home another Poker Dream title, winning Event #53: Monster Stack and securing his second career Poker Dream trophy along with a $23,976 payout.
In addition to Nasa’s victory, three-time Poker Dream Main Event champion Nishant Sharma bagged $22,100 after finishing 5th in Event #43: Mystery Bounty High Roller. Here’s a quick recap of Team India’s towering performance at Poker Dream 17 Malaysia.
Akshay Nasa Ships Second Poker Dream Trophy
Akshay Nasa had previously won his first Poker Dream trophy at Poker Dream 11, where he took down the Mini High Roller for a $23,663 payout. Entering the final day of the Monster Stack event as a mid-stack with 36 players remaining, Nasa delivered a top-notch performance, ultimately shipping his second Poker Dream title after a heads-up with Thailand’s Pongsapak Himathongkom (runner-up for MYR 70,415 – $15,945).

He earned MYR 104,800 (~$23,976) from the MYR 509,715 prize pool, taking his total live tournament earnings past the $550,000 mark. Nasa has consistently been a presence at both international and Asian poker events. Notably, he was crowned APT Ho Chi Minh Main Event Champion in 2019, pocketing $64,334, and finished 2nd at the APT Hanoi Main Event in 2023, collecting a career-best $90,133.
Apart from Nasa, two other Indians, Jatin Sablani (11th for MYR 8.900 -$2015) and Ankit Jain (13th for MYR 7,900 -$1,790), cashed the event.

Nishant Sharma’s Deep Run In Poker Dream 17 High Roller
Nishant Sharma, a three-time Poker Dream Main Event champion, once again showcased his brilliance at PD17. Although he fell short of a record fourth Main Event title—finishing 64th for a money finish—he still emerged profitable in the series.
Sharma made a stellar run in Event #43: High Roller, finishing 5th and earning $22,100. The event crowned China’s Haohui Ma as the champion, who bagged $75,200 from the $296,000 prize pool. The High Roller attracted 106 entries, with 15 players making it in the money.
In addition to his 5th-place finish, Sharma also secured the biggest bounty payout of the tournament — $29,370 (₹25 Lakhs) — in Event #54: Mystery Bounty High Roller, where he also reached the final table, capping off his Poker Dream 17 campaign on a high note.
