Won Poker Cup II 2024 Main Even Quick Recap

The $ 1,220 buy-in Won Poker Cup II 2024 Main Event, held at the Won Majestic Hotel from November 26 to December 2, featured seven flights in Day 1s and drew an impressive 361 entries. Day 2 of the tournament saw a total of 48 players (all in the money) to battle it out for their spot on the final table.

Final Table Action

The action was fast and furious with eliminations coming in quickly. Following over 8 hours of intense battles, the final table was reached after the elimination of Mike Takayama in 10th place for $10,000.

The final 9 players returned yesterday to battle it out for the coveted trophy and the $117,000 top prize. With each one guaranteed at least $12,000, Henri Hinds (1,905,000 -64 BB) started the final table as a chip leader ahead of French-Canadian Aladin Reskallah (1,905,000 -64 BB).

Unfortunately for Reskallah, he lost his momentum and became the first casualty from the final table as his pocket kings lost to Bien Mai’s ace-four on an ace-high board. Fujishiro Kazuki was the next player to fall. He ran his king-queen into the pocket aces of Henri Hinds to exit in 8th place.

Hinds scored his second knockout by busting Gyeonseok Jeon who ran his king-jack into the ace-king of Hinds and did not find any help from the board, falling in sixth place. Hinds continued on elimination spree and busted Martin Rundulf Gonzales and Jeorge Lagatuz, falling in fifth and fourth places, respectively.

After winning a massive pot against Lagatuz with a set of kings, Hinds took a massive chip lead and continued to cruise all the way to the heads-up against Vietnamese shark Bien Mai.

Despite holding a massive lead with 72 bb to Bien’s 33 bb chip, it was not an easy battle for Hinds. Bien dominated the majority of the duel, raking in pot after pot to switch ranks. The chip lead swung back and forth before Hinds landed a monster double up, leaving Bien with just 7 BBs. Finally, it all ended with Hinds shoving with Ks 6h and Bien calling with Jc 8h for his tournament life.

The board ran out 3h 6s 9c Ad 5s, giving Hinds a pair of sixes and knocking out Bien in second place. The bold move in the final hand paid off, crowning Hinds as the ultimate champion of the main event.
