The latest ranking update for female poker players in the Asian circuit highlights a rising wave of talent in the continent. More and more female players from the Asian region are making big waves in prestigious live as well as online poker events. With their consistent results and unmatched passion, these female pros continue to climb the Global Poker Index (GPI) and regional leaderboards.
These female pros are displaying their strategic prowess at major tournaments across Asia and globally, thus contributing to the growing influence of female competitors in the game. The GPI Asia female rankings reflect not only their constant success but also the rising contribution of women in the highly competitive poker landscape.
- Shiina Okamoto – 1,666.36 GPI points
Leading the GPI Ranking among Asian female players is Japan’s Shiina Okamoto with 1,666.36 GPI points. She was last seen at the European Poker Tour – EPT Barcelona held in August and September 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. Here she cashed at four events including a 12th place finish at No Limit Hold’em – 6-Handed (Event #60) cashing €7,000 and 127.28 GPI points, a 43rd place finish for €19,000 at No Limit Hold’em – EPT High Roller (Event #52) for 170.03 GPI points, a 68th place finish at + 1,000 No Limit Hold’em – EPT Mystery Bounty (Event #39) for €5,200 and 130.56 GPI points and a 223rd place finish at No Limit Hold’em – ESPT Main Event (Event #1) for a paycheque of €5,900 and 94.59 GPI points.
- Min Zhang – 1,545.17 GPI points
At the second place is Min Zhang with 1,545.17 GPI points. Having last appeared at Fall Deep Stack Series in Orange City, Florida, United States towards the end of Septemebr, this Chinese player recorded an impressive second runner-up finish at No Limit Hold’em – Deepstack (Event #1) for $13,001.
- Hua Wei Lin – 1,466.83 GPI points
Following in at the third place is Hua Wei Lin with 1,466.83 GPI points. Last seen at the World Poker Tour Prime – WPT Prime Taiwan series in Taipei City, Taiwan, the Taiwanese local cashes at three events at the prestigious series. This included a 115th place finish at No Limit Hold’em – WPT Prime Taiwan (Event #35) for NT$73,000 and 94.37 GPI points, along with an 18th place finish at No Limit Hold’em – Mini Superstack Classic Freezeout (Event #15) bagging NT$13,500 in cash. She also recorded a final table finish at the No Limit Hold’em – Ladies (Event #28) in the series. She finished 6th on the final table for a sum of NT$25,000.
- Hui Chen “Kitty” Kuo – 1,442.06 GPI points
Natural8 ambassador Hui Chen “Kitty” Kuo takes the fourth spot on the GPI rankings for Asian females with 1,442.06 GPI points. The Taiwanese player was last seen cashing at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) in Hollywood, FL, United States back in August. Here she recorded a single cash at the 42nd place in the No Limit Hold’em – SHRPO Championship (Event #42). She walked away with $21,800 and 180.96 GPI points for her efforts.
- Ruiko Mamiya – 1,406.01 GPI points
Ruiko Mamiya for Taiwan ranks fifth on the GPI Asian female rankings with 1,406.01 GPI points. She last appeared at World Poker Tour Prime – WPT Prime Taiwan held in Taipei City, Taiwan. Here she narrowly missed a title finishing at the runner-up spot at No Limit Hold’em – Closer Megatsack (Event #47) for NT$457,600 and 104.87 GPI points.
Apart from the top five, another entry among the top 10 GPI female Asian rankings that is worth mentioning is Meng Ling “Candy” Lin. She makes a staggering entry in the 10th place with 1,160.30 GPI points, thanks to her recent cashes in significant series. She was last seen grinding in Cotai, Macau at the MGM Poker Tournament SeriesCotai, Macau. Here she recorded a 25th place finish at the No Limit Hold’em – MGM’s Millionaire Maker event for HK$34,550 and 119.33 GPI points.
Prior to this, she had cashed at the 24th place at the 2024 Aria Poker Classic No Limit Hold’em event in Las Vegas, NV, United States. She finished at the 24th place pocketing a handsome $3,724 and 105.20 GPI points.
