After nine hours of fast-paced action on Day 2 of the $10,200 bounty event, Uruguay’s Marcelo Bonanata emerged victorious in the 2024 European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus $10,200 Mystery Bounty to claim his first EPT Title . Bonanata has been participating in the European Poker Tour since 2013, but it took him over 11 years to finally secure a PokerStars Spade Trophy.
The $10,200 buy-in Mystery Bounty event drew 75 players, generating a total prize pool of $352,500 and a bounty prize pool of $375,000. With a relatively small field, only the top 11 finishers took home a share of the prize pool.

The final table began on Day 2, with Estonia’s Vladimir Korzinin leading the table, while Marcelo Bonanata held a middling stack. India’s Santhosh Suvarna and Valeriy Fokin were the short stacks.
Santhosh Suvarna doubled up to stay safe, while Valeriy Fokin was the first knockout of the final table. Fokin was eliminated in 9th place and banked $11,000. Alexander Zubov was the next to fall at the table. He shoved with Ks-7s, and Bonanata called it with As-Js. Bonanata made a full house on the board to send Zubov to the rail in 8th place, $13,000.
Manuel Fritz soon followed in 7th place, earning $17,200. Fritz went all-in with pocket kings, but Tom Vogelsang cracked them through a jack-high straight. Bonanata extended his lead by eliminating Yulian Bogdanov in 6th place for $21,500. Besides the prize money, Bogdan took the largest bounty pot of $75,000.
Indian high roller sensation Santhosh Suvarna put up a strong fight. However, his deep run ended when he put the last of his stack into the middle with Kh-Jc and Vogelsang called with Qs-9h. The board displayed 6c-5h-8s-10d-7s to give Vogelsang a straight. Santhosh Suvarna bowed out in 5th place, adding $34,600 to his live earnings.
Despite the elimination, Tom Vogelsang couldn’t stay any longer at the table and was the 4th player to be eliminated, earning $77,700. Korzinin soon followed the railbirds in 3rd place to collect $78,300.
Heading into the heads-up play, both Bonanata and Aleksejs Ponakvos held an even stack. But Ponakvos quickly took a short lead. However, Bonanata fought back, taking a 2:1 chip advantage over Ponakovs. The final hand saw Bonanata shoved all-in with pocket dues, and Ponakovs called it with As-8h.
The board ran out Jh-6d-3c-9h-10 to end the long battle. Bonanata was crowned as the winner and took home his first PokerStars Spade trophy and the first-place prize of $99,300, along with a $57,500 in bounty prize. Ponkavas collected $64,000 and $65,000 in bounty prizes for his runner-up finish.
