The U Series of Poker (USOP) Hai Phong at Dream Dragon Resort in Vietnam is nearing its conclusion, with the Main Event set to crown its champion today. After an intense 11 hours on Day 2, Australia’s Julian Warhurst (8,080,000) emerged as the chip leader among the 18 remaining players. Day 2 ended after the elimination of Vietnam’s Cao Ngoc Anh, who fell after his 8-5 failed to beat Warhurst’s K-J. A jack on the board sealed Anh’s exit, solidifying Warhurst’s chip lead into the final day.
Warhurst is closely followed by Vietnam’s Tran Van Phuc, who sits second in chips with 6,345,000 (63 BB). Among the other notable players advancing to the final day are 2018 WSOP Main Event runner-up Tony Miles (5,740,000), multi-series winner Jianfeng Sun (3,405,000), and the lone female pro still in the field, Nguyen Thi My Phuong (3,905,000).
All players who made it this far are guaranteed a minimum payout of VN₫ 294,000,000 ($11,950), while the first-place prize of VN₫ 6.3 Billion ($257,000) awaits the champion. The action resumes today at noon with blinds set at 50,000/100,000.
Day 2 of the Main Event began with 188 runners each battling for a spot into the Final Day. Set to play down to the last two tables. The day saw several seasoned contenders, of which previous USOP Main Event champions The Naing (36th) and Ian Lee (106th), bracelet winners William Teoh (60th) and Jinlong Hu (170th) and Vietnam’s best Dao Minh Phu (80th) exited the event on Day 2 itself.
