Zine-Din Benrebai Turns €150 buy-in into €122,150 win at FPS Aix-les-Bains Main Event

The 2024 FPS Aix-les-Bains concluded with Zine-Din Benrebai lifting the main event trophy and banking €122,150. Benrebai, who earned a seat at the Aix-les-Bains Main Event of a €150 buy-in tournament, struck gold at the Casino Grand Cercle. 

The €1,100 buy-in Main Event drew 660 entries, building a total prize pool of €636,600. The top 95 players took a share from the €600k prize pool, with 2023 EPT Main Event Champion Simon Wiciak (20th) and bracelet winner Shai Zurr finishing 27th.

The final nine were formed on Day 3, with most players having less than $100k in tournament earnings. Benrebai held the second-most chip stack, while his fellow Frenchman Karim Kaladjou led the final table with 57 bbs. Below is a recap of the 2024 FPS Aix-les-Bains Main Event Final Table.

Damien Noraz was the first to exit, as he called the all-in of Angel Insua with Jd-9h. Insua’s pocket sevens held up, sending Noraz in 9th place to bank €11,280. The next elimination came after three hours, as Loris Corbelli shoved with Ac-7d, and Benrebai called it with pocket tens. The board displayed Kc-Kh-2c-2c-2s-Qh to put an end to Corbelli’s deep run in 8th (€14,670).

Karia Kaladjou and Cyril Peralez followed in 7th (€19,080) places, and 6th (€24,810) places, respectively. Robin Engelmann went all-in in a three-way pot against Insua and Benrebai with Qd-7s, Benrebai folded, and Insua called with pocket cowboys. The board came out Jc-7h-Qc-As-Jd, and Insua made a superior two pairs compared to Engelmann. Engelmann had to settle for €32,240 for his 5th-place finish.

As the field was narrowed to four players, Benrebai took the lead. Unfortunately, Angel Insua’s dominating run came to an end as he shoved with Qc-Js, and Tung Nguyen called it with Ah-10s. The board improved Nguyen’s ace-ten, ending the deep run of Insua in 4th place for €41,910. 

Tung Nguyen scored his second knockout by sending Brice de Kermadec to the rail in 3rd place. Kermadec collected €54,480. Benrebai’s lead was big, and it was hard for Nguyen to overcome.. On the final hand of the tournament, Nguyen moved all-in with Qc-10h, and Benrebai called it with Kd-Jc. 

The board ran out Js-Ah-3s-7d-8d, and Nguyen had to leave the table with a €76,270 payout. Meanwhile, the French player Zine-Din Benrebai took home a six-figure score of €122,150 and the PokerStars trophy.
