The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has announced the ten 2024 finalists for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame. This year’s list features a blend of returning nominees, fresh faces such as Barny Boatman and ‘Miami’ John Cernuto, and even a WSOP Main Event Champion from the 80s.
2024 WSOP Hall of Fame Finalists
All the living members of the Poker Hall of Fame voted these 10 players to the final stage of the PHOF.
- > Patrik Antonius (Finland) – One of the popular high-stakes players in the poker fraternity, both live and online.
- >Josh Arieh (USA) – PHOF Nominee in the previous three years, he has six WSOP bracelets to his name.
- > Barny Boatman (UK) – One of the founding fathers of Hendon Mob and two-time WSOP bracelet winner.
- >Ted Forrest (USA) – Seven-time PHOF Nominee and six-time bracelet winner.
- > Kathy Liebert (USA) – One of the popular female poker players, with one gold bracelet to her name.
- > Mike Matusow (USA) – Famously known as ‘The Mouth’ four-time bracelet winner, has been nominated for the tenth time in Poker Hall of Fame.
- >Matt Savage (USA) – Savage is the founder of the Tournament Directors Association (TDA), and has been nominated for the PHOF several times.
- >Isai Scheinberg (Canada) – PokerStars Online’s founder.
- > Bill Smith (USA) – One of the pioneers of High Stakes poker and 1985 WSOP Main Event winner.
Several players who were previously nominated in recent years couldn’t make it to this year’s Poker Hall of Fame. They include Jeremy Ausmus, Norman Chad, Lon McEachern, Antonio Esfandiari, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospeltier, David Chiu, Bruno Fitoussi, and Michael Mizrachi.
All Poker Hall of Fame members are invited to participate in this year’s $1,959 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty Tournament, which starts on July 14.
The 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee will be announced during the PHOF Bounty Tournament, followed by revealing the inductee’s Hall of Fame picture at the WSOP Hall of Fame Poker Room, inside the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino.
