WSOP 2024: Colin Robinson & Elie Nakache Among Latest First Bracelet Winners

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to crown new winners and award hefty cash prizes.  Colin Robinson and Elie Nakache were the latest bracelet winners crowned at the ongoing WSOP series in Las Vegas. Here is a quick recap of the events they won at the prestigious festival.

Colin Robinson Wins his First Bracelet in WSOP 2024 Event #68: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em

Robinson, who finished runner-up in the WSOP 2023 Poker $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em Monster Stack event, finally won his maiden bracelet by winning Event #68: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em of the ongoing series. He overcame a field of 2,229 entries and Carl Shaw heads-up claiming  $667,963 and his first bracelet.

This event ran for three days and resulted in a prize pool of $4,959,525 which was paid out among the top 335 finishers. Several bracelet winners ran deep in this event, including Jin Hoon Lee (21st), Rui Ferreira (20th), Mike Holtz (17th), Andre Akkari (12th), and Jose ‘Nacho’ Barbero (11th).

The final table was reached after the elimination of 2023 WPT Gardens Poker Championship winner Ky Nguyen (10th place) and it featured Ivan Stankov (9th – $61,906), Gonzalo Almada (8th – $79,537),  Peter Park (7th – Peter Park), Akshat Bajaj (6th – $135,522), Two-time bracelet winner  Barry Shulman (5th – $179,687) and 2019 WPT Barcelona champion Vitalijs Zavorotnijs (4th for $240,707).

During three-handed play, Robinson busted John Reiter (3rd for $325,744) with his Ace-Five holding against the King-Queen of his opponent. Heads-up began with Robinson holding over a 6:1 chip lead over Shaw. Just a few hands into their match, Robinson shoved with Queen-Sven and Shaw called with Queen-Ten. The board ran with four clubs, giving Robinson a higher flush with queens to win it.

Team India Performance

From Team India, both Ashish Munot and WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved made deep runs but exited on Day 2. Munot finished 55th for $12,388, while Ved exited in 58th place for the same prize, pushing his total series earnings to an astounding $271,370 from nine cashes in the series.

 Elie Nakache Wins WSOP 2024 Event #66:  $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship

Following four days of intense playFrance’s Elie Nakache emerged victorious from a star-studded field of 726 players, earning $1,320,945 in top prize and his first bracelet for the victory. This was his first seven-figure tournament score and he now has nearly $1.5 million in live earnings after the win.

This event took four days to crown the winner. The top 122 players made the money, with several notables running deep like bracelet winner Stephen Chidwick (17th), bracelet winner David Benyamine (8th), bracelet winner Eelis Parssinen (6th).

The final day saw just five players return to battle it out for the coveted title with 2019 World Poker Tour bestbet Bounty Scramble champion Joshua Adkins in lead and Nakache in second place. Oshri Lahmani (5th – $315,098) was the first to fall, with Manh Nguyen (4th – $436,751) following him. He was followed by Jonathan Bowers who earned $615,251 as the third-place finisher.

 Heads-up saw Adkins holding more than a 3:1 chip lead over Nakache. The heads-up ended with Adkins raising to 900,000  with As Ac Ks Qc and Nakache defending his blind with 8c 5d 4s 3h.

The flop opened 6c 4h 2s to give Nakache a six-high straight. He checked and Adkins bet 600,000. Nakache check-raised to 2,000,000 and Adkins called with his overpair. The Kd on the turn saw Nakache bet 3,500,000. Adkins called and the 10s completed the board. Nakache moved all-in and Adkins called for his last 9,500,000. Adkins earned a career-best $880,621 as the runner-up.

India`s Kunal Punjwani made a significant impact in this championship event, finishing 89th for  a respectable $20,099. This marked his second WSOP 2024 cash, following his 86th -place finish for $14,890 in the recent Event #54: $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER No-Limit Hold’em of the series.
