The World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship 2023 at Wynn Las Vegas is in full swing. Featuring a staggering $40 Million prize pool, the event has progressed into Day 4. From the starting field of 480 challengers, only 132 competitors remain in the fray. Leading the remaining hopefuls is Naj Ajez with a commanding stack of 11,435,000 chips (191 big blinds). He is followed by the 2023 WSOP Paradise Event #11 champion Artur Martirosian (10,930,000) and Andres Campero (10,535,000).

Making waves from Team India is Ankit Ahuja, who clinched a spot into Day 4 with the fourth largest stack of 9,090,000 chips (152 big blinds) and is certainly one of the top contenders for the coveted title and the top prize $5,678,000. In addition to Ahuja’s remarkable performance, Kartik Ved, India’s WSOP bracelet winner, started Day 3 with a modest stack of 24 big blinds. Despite his valiant efforts,  Ved could not advance further, with his journey ending in 352nd place for a cash prize of $21,200.

Talking about the $10,400 buy-in tournament, it drew in 3,835 entries with 132 remaining in contention for the top $5,678,000 prize and the coveted WPT trophy. Holding the fourth largest stack, Ahuja stands as a formidable contender for the title. He has been making waves across the global poker circuit, notably shipping the Eureka Main Event at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus 2023 to pocket $362,365. This year has also seen him notch up several other remarkable scores, including a fifth-place for €177,810 in the 2023 EPT Barcelona Event #1: €1,100 NLHE ESPT Main Event, a 2nd place for €177,810 in the 2023 WPT Australia Event #3: A$5,000 NLH (8-Max) Action Clock, and a 6th place for $76,357 in the 2023 WSOP Event #19: $2,500 NLH Freezeout.

His recent streak puts him as the man in top form but only time will tell how this pro turns the game in his favour. Play for Day 4 starts at 12 noon (local time) and the day will have five 90-minute levels. Stay tuned in for more!
