The World Poker Tour (WPT) is hosting several live poker events this month, including the WPT Prime Gold Coast which is currently underway at StarPoker, Australia. The event started on 10 April and concludes today (23 April). The festival features a total of 21 thrilling events with a whopping prize pool of $7 Million. The key highlight of the festival is the Championship event, which is just a few hours away from crowning its champion. Out of the record-breaking field of 1,395 entries who all ponied up the AU$2,000 buy-in, only nine players are remaining in contention for the biggest slice of the AU$2,511,000 (~US $1,611,811) prize pool. Lorenz Schollhorn (19,900,000 -66 bb) is currently leading the final 6 players and is in prime position to clinch the coveted title and trophy.
Over the past twelve days, the ongoing series has witnessed numerous notable victors, including Japan’s Hiroyuki Noda, Shelly Pooley, Hussein (Huss) Hassan, and Yuanting Wang, among others.

South Korea’s Woojin Kang Wins The WPT Prime Gold Coast Ultimate Turbo
The WPT Prime Gold Coast is running full steam and South Korea’s Woojin Kang is one of the latest winners at the series. He overcame a field of 101 entries in the WPT Prime Gold Coast $1,100 Ultimate Turbo event, securing just shy of $25k in prize money after a heads-up deal with Jason Giuliano (2nd for $24,869). This was his second victory following his win in the Deepstack Challenge (Event #14) at Manila Megastack 18, Manila where he earned ₱ 690,000 in prize money.

Anderson Batista Takes Down WPT Prime Gold Coast Shark Attack Survivor Bounty
Prior to Kang’s victory, Ireland’s Anderson Batista outlasted the field to take down the Ultimate Survivor Bounty event. Anderson’s latest win netted him more than $38,000 in top prize money. This was his second live cash following his 94th place finish in an event at the 2023 WSOP Daily Deepstacks, which earned him a modest $259.

Jorge Palomino Wins WPT Prime Gold Coast $330 NLH Action Clock title
Joining Batista in the winners’ circle was Spain’s Jorge Palomino who took down the $330 NLH Action Clock title. Jorge collected $12,578 in top prize money along with a coveted crystal surfboard side event trophy. After the victory, he has now close to $200k in live tournament earnings and is ranked 158th on Spain’s All-Time money list.

Zac Vigar Crowned As The WPT Prime Gold Coast $330 PLO champion.
Zac Vigar, who finished third in the King’s Cup Series Main Event for A$ 19,800 last month, was crowned the $330 PLO champion. Zac outlasted a field of 137 entries, taking home a little over $10k in prize money and the trophy. After the win, the Australian player now holds more than $300k in live tournament earnings after the win.

Japan’s Hiroyuki Nod Takes Down WPT Prime Gold Coast Super High Roller
Japan’s Hiroyuki Noda, who finished third in the WPT Korea High Roller (Event #16) for $ 71,913 this month, took down the $20k Super High Roller event. Hiroyuki overcame a stacked final table to take home the title, $274,822 in prize money, along with a $6,000 WPT Prime Championship package. He now has more than $95k in live earnings.

Shelly Pooley Wins WPT Prime Gold Coast Mystery Bounty
Shelly Pooley took down the WPT Prime Gold Coast Mystery Bounty title after a heads-up deal. For her efforts, Shelly took home just under $75k in prize money, $7.4k in bounties, plus a $6,000 WPT Prime Championship package. This marked her third live title of 2024r and she now has close to $200k in live earnings after this win.

Australia’s Joseph Vinecombe, who earlier today was crowned the WPT Prime Gold Coast $3k PLO High Roller champion. This was his first victory of 2024 and he now has over $300k in live earnings.

Hussein (Huss) Hassan was crowned the $5k Challenge winner at the 2024 WPT Prime Gold Coast festival. Huss outlasted an extremely talented field of 119 entries to take home $121k, the crystal surfboard trophy and the $6,000 WPT Prime Championship package, after a heads-up deal was made. This was his first live poker title of 2024, following two deep finishes across WPTL Championship and Australian Poker Tour events this year.

No stranger to success here at Star Poker Gold Coast, Melbourne resident Adam Thaggard took down the $675 PLO title. Adam outlasted 130 entries to take home $19,000, along with the crystal surfboard WPT Prime Gold Coast trophy. This was the second title of the year for him as he had also won A$ 210 + 40 Pot Limit Omaha event at Rise of the Empire Poker Festival last month. After the victory, he now has more than $277k in live tournament earnings.
