The action gets intensified at the ongoing 2024 World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia with the highly-anticipated $1 million guaranteed Championship event kicking off today. Wednesday marked the culmination of several events on the series’ schedule. One of the key events from India’s perspective was Event 20: Megastack Action Clock where three Indian players showcased their prowess. Headlining the trio was Amit Kuashik. Fresh off his 12th place finish in WPT Championship Warm Up, the Indian poker ace displayed his skills masterfully, securing a commendable 3rd-place finish for $8,125 (INR 6.76 Lakhs).
The other two Indian challengers who scored in the $400 buy-in Event 20: Megastack Action Clock at the WPT Cambodia 2024. Shravan Kumar Singh placed 10th for $1,631), marking his second cash in the series after his runner-up finish for $4,489 in Event 13: Freezeout. Maulik Bharatkumar Shukla, with two previous final table finishes in Event 6: Deepstack Turbo (6th for $1,601) and Event 12: Deepstack Turbo Big Bounty (6th for $1,448), continued his persistent performance, finishing in 23rd place for $733 in this event.

Event 20: Megastack Action Clock attracted an impressive 277 (238 unique) entries for a massive prize pool of $79,268. Marc Rivera from Philippines outlasted them all, winning the title for $18,679 in top prize. He bested Denmark’s Jonas Stubjer Huttel in the heads-up, with the latter banking $13,117 as the runner-up. The tournament paid out the top 29 players, with China’s Yadi Yao (29th place for $548) becoming first ITM player.

Another highlight was the $10,000 buy-in Event #21: 10K Single Day Challenge where Australia’s Daniel Neilson emerged victorious from a field of 45 entries, claiming $143,903. Hong Kong’s Hon Cheong Lee placed runner-up for $95,935. The top seven finishers shared the $423,405 prize pool, with William Jia (3rd for $63,955), Yita Choong (4th for $44,352), Punnat Punsri (5th for $32,043), Asa Gregory Smith (6th for $24,164) and Kannapong Thanarattraku (7th for $19,053) bagging payouts.
In Event #22: Ladies NLH at the WPT Cambodia 2024, Ms. Asmiati from Indonesia topped the 28-player field, taking home the lion’s share of the $4,753 prize pool with a $2,139 prize money. The top four finishers received payouts, with Filipino poker players Grace Takayama (2nd for $1,283), Ma Gabrielle Angeli Barredo (3rd for $808), and Maria Cristina Argao (4th for $523) bagging payouts.
Australia’s Brenton Lee Buttigieg bested a field of 43 entrants in Event #23: Short Deck Hyper Turbo, ultimately defeating Philippines’ Richard Marquez in the heads-up to win the title for a $2,912 prize.
USA’s James Mendoza topped the 77-player field in the day’s concluding Event #24: 1K Hyper Turbo, claiming a $23,489 top prize. Australia’s Julian Warhurst placed runner-up, earning $13,472.
