Women on the Rise: Female Poker Pros Shine at Poker Dream 11 Malaysia

Today marks the final day of Poker Dream 11 Malaysia at Resorts World Genting Highlands, with the RM 5,000,000 (~$1.1 Million) GTD Main Event promising a grand finale. Kicking off on August 1, the series has been a blockbuster one with record-breaking numbers and some massive wins. While Malaysian stars like Christopher Michael Soyza, Ang Yang Siang, and WSOP bracelet winner Martin Finger have dominated with major victories, the women have also showcased their strategic prowess by clinching impressive victories.

Ren Wenjie from China showcased her strategic prowess by winning Event #27: Win the Button Turbo, earning an impressive MYR 21,988 from a prize pool of MYR 146,888. Her ability to master the pace and press the button to victory displayed her exceptional skill in a highly competitive field.

This marked her first poker dream title and the biggest live cash of her career, surpassing her previous cashes (MYR 1,300 and MYR 2,100), which she scored at the Poker Dream Malaysia 9 edition.

Another lady who shone brightly was Sarayeva Maryia from Belarus! She took down Event #16: Ladies Event after beating a strong line up of competitors to claim the top prize of MYR 8,000 from a prize pool of MYR 33,034. In addition to her victory, she also secured a MYR 5,000 tournament credit.

It is not just  at Poker Dream 11 Malaysia, women have been making waves almost everywhere on the live felts recently. Prior to these ladies, we saw  Shiina Okamoto, Meng Guo, Rachel Sawyer, Susan Faber, and Kourtney Davis notching significant victories. Their growing presence, power, and skills underscore the growing influence and prowess of women in poker. They have proven one thing for sure –  their skills and determination are second to none, standing tall alongside some of the biggest names in the game.
