William “Cody” Stanford claimed his third World Series of Poker Circuit ring of the year in five days at the 2025 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Tunica. His latest circuit ring victory brought his total circuit ring to seven, making him the 49th player in WSOP Circuit history to have captured seven circuit rings.
Stanford began 2025 with a victory in the $1 million GTD The Beau Rivage Heater’s $500 buy-in NLH event, earning a career-best $184,487 payday. The Mississippi resident followed it up with another six-figure score of $168,923 after rounding up the podium in the Beau Rivage Heater $1,200 buy-in Main Event.
With four titles and five final-table finishes in 2025, Stanford has climbed to the top of the Global Poker Player of the Year (POY) rankings. He leads the race with 1,887 points, followed by Spencer Champlin. Stanford has earned over $417,000 across his five final table finishes this year, pushing his total live earnings past $1.8 million.

Stanford’s first circuit ring of the year came in the 2025 WSOPC Horseshoe Tunica when he took down a field of 160 entries in Event #9: $400 NLH to win his career fifth circuit gold ring, and the 1st place prize of $13,075 of the $58k prize pool.
Stanford didn’t stop there and captured his sixth career circuit ring the next day by outlasting an impressive 149 field in Event #10: $1,100 PLO High Roller. The game was tough as Stanford re-entered the tournament 12 times and ultimately ended up taking home $36,423.
His latest Circuit Ring victory came in Event #17: $400 buy-in NLH 30KGTD. The event drew an entry field of 228 players, which smashed the GTD for a total prize pool of $75,240. As the dust settled, Stanford emerged victorious, banking a $17,262 payout.
