The 2024 U Series of Poker (USOP) Hai Phong running at the luxurious Dream Dragon Resort in Vietnam has been a thrilling battleground for poker enthusiasts. With 66 trophy events on the schedule, the festival has already crossed its halfway mark, with more than 33 events already reaching their conclusion. One of the recent events to conclude at the festival was Event 31: Mini High Roller that crowned its champion yesterday.
With a buy-in of VN₫ 22,000,000 ($ 880), the VN₫ 500,000,000 ($ 20,360) guaranteed event fared pretty well, drawing in 82 entries and generating a massive VN₫ 1,541,6,000 ($ 62,780) in prize pool, which was finally shared by the top 10 finishers, with min cashes starting at VN₫ 51,500,000.

Following several hours of intense battle, Malaysia’s William Teoh, who won a WSOP online bracelet just a few days ago, came out on top to take home the trophy and an impressive VN₫ 451,780,000 ($18,400), following a heads-up deal with Vietnam’s Duy Anh Pham (runner-up for VN₫ 335,220,000).
India’s Gagandeep Malik was looking in good shape to win the title but his run unfortunately came in third place for VN₫ 190,000,000 ($7,741). This marked his first final table score of the series, following his two prior cash finishes – 21st place in Event 1: Kickoff Madness for VN₫ 53,200,000 and 88th place for VN₫ 27,500,000 in Event 11: Championship.
This was the third-final table finish for India following final table cashes by WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer and Anmol Mehta in Event 12: Superstar Challenge and Event 22: Sunday Superstack, respectively. And a big shoutout to Gagandeep Malik’s wife Ankita Ajay Malik who made her mark, finishing 11th for VN₫ 17,300,000 in Event 30: Freezeout yesterday and scoring her first cash in the ongoing series.

China’s Bo Li Wins USOP Hai Phong Sunday Superstack, Anmol Mehta Shiens for India
Another big event to wrap up at the ongoing USOP Hai Phong series was Event 22: Sunday Superstack. Sporting a buy-in of VN₫ 11, 00,000 ($ 440) and VN₫ 1,000,000,000 ($ 40,720) in guaranteed prize pool, the tournament drew an impressive 284 entries and more than doubled its guarantee prize pool with VN₫ 2,669,600,000 ($ 108,760), which was finally shared by the top 36 players. In the end, the lion’s share went to China’s Bo Li who defeated his fellow countryman Yong Yi Liu (VN₫ 387,200,000) in the heads-up to take home the coveted trophy and VN₫ 600,500,000 in top prize money.
Shining for Team India in this event was Anmol Mehta, who placed 7th and took home VN₫ 91,800,000. This was Mehta’s first final table score at the series, following his 88th place finish for VN₫ 21,300,000 in Event 1: Madness Kick Off. This marked second final table finish for Team India, following a 3rd place finish for VN₫ 965,000,000 by WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer in Event 12: Superstar Challenge a few days ago.
