Chidwick then struck again, this time against Aram Zobian. Zobian’s ace-three couldn’t improve against the chip leader’s pocket tens. Zobian was eliminated in 6th place and earned $78,000.
Even though Zobian wasn’t able to win Event #8, he was able to win the 2024 U.S. Poker Open Champion title, a Golden Eagle trophy, and a $25,000 PGT Password for his incredible performance in USPO 2024.
Zobian cashed a total of 4 events at the USPO 2024, amassing an impressive 616 PGT points. He won Event #6 and made two podium finishes, winning a total of $613,540 from cashes in 4 events.
Chidwick lost his chip stack against Cary Katz, but he quickly won some chips. He later landed a straight fl7sh against Katz’s top pair, ultimately eliminating the PokerGo founder in 5th place with a payout of $104,000.
Brandon Wittmeyer, a poker player who not only played his first PGT Tournament but also entered the final table as the third-largest stack. He was able to win against Dan Smith’s ace-nine with his ace-ten, eliminating Smith in 4th place for $130,000. Wittmeyer was able to last longer but later got eliminated by Chidwick’s ace-king. WSOP Bracelet winner Wittmeyer was eliminated in 3rd place with a payout of $182,000.
Heads-up play commenced with Chidwick having a 73% chip lead over Andrew Lichtenberger. Lichtenberger was able to narrow the differences by winning some hands against Chidwick and close the gap. Chidwick later was able to get a lead over Lichtenberger after winning a hand against him.
Lichtenberger then went all against Chidwick with his pocket pair of threes. But his dream of winning his first USPO title was shattered after Chidwick’s eight-four got four on the flop. Lichtenberger finished in 2nd place for $273,000.
