Shaun Deeb reduces his body fat to 17% to win an $800,000 Bet ahead of 2024 WSOP. It started a spark in the poker community, as everyone was a bit skeptical but Shaun proved everyone wrong by his discipline and hard work.
The six-time WSOP Bracelet winner Shaun Debb accepted a bet which required a transformation. Shaun Debb accepted the bet from his fellow poker player Bill Perkins. In 2023 Bill challenged Shaun to reduce his body fat to 17% before the big poker tournament WSOP 2024. It was hard for the poker player, but he overcame the challenge through his determination. Deeb now won the bet by reducing his body fat to 17% for $800,000.

The bet started in late March 2023 when Deeb tweeted, “I find it funny how few people realize how impossible it is for a healthy person to get to 10% body fat, but I’m open for a winnable bet” he tagged Bill Perkins as he has a history of doing weight loss betting.
Perkins gave Deeb a two-year deadline, which Deeb accepted for 17% body fat. Deeb bet $100,000 against Perkins $1 Million. Perkins later changed the deadline to one year, Deeb then asked Perkins to give him time until the start of WSOP 2024. Perkins didn’t know when WSOP 2024 would start so he gave him time until May 30, 2024 (WSOP 2024 Starting in May 28).
A Journey Of Hardwork & Discipline
It wasn’t easy for Deeb. His initial weight was 306 pounds and in April, he did dual x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) which showed his body fat was at 40.2%.
In late January, Deeb posted a picture of himself with a DEXA scan report where he had 23.9% body fat. He still has four months to go to 17%, and then last Thursday, he showed his DEXA scan where he had 22% body fat. Deeb completed the challenge through diet and regular gym, without using any shady stuff.
On February 18, 2024, Shaun announced that after many discussions with his wife Ashley and Perkins, he accepted the $800,000 buyout from Perkins. The bet is now officially over, and Perkins won the bet. It is unclear why Perkins gave him money, but I think he knows Deeb will easily get to 17% body fat. Which is why he saved his $200,000.
