The 2024 PGT PLO Series II which kicked off on October 14 is running full steam. Two champions have been crowned at the series so far, with Spain’s Lautaro Guerra winning the first event and USA’s Dylan Weisman emerging victorious in the second event of the ongoing festival. Here is a quick recap!
Lautaro Guerra Wins Event #1: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha To Claim Fourth PGT PLO Series Title
Lautaro Guerra, who claimed an impressive three titles in the inaugural PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha Series, is off to a flying start at the ongoing 2024 PGT PLO Series II series. The Spanish PLO specialist, who had won $ 10,000 Pot Limit Omaha (Event #5), $ 10,000 + 5,000 Pot Limit Omaha – Bounty (Event #7) and $ 25,000 Pot Limit Omaha – Championship (Event #8) during the inaugural series last year, overcame a field of 155 entries in Event #1: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha to capture a payout of $178,250 and fourth PGT PLO series title.
This was his third title of 2024, bringing his lifetime tournament earnings to more than $2.4 million. On way to his latest victory, he defeated a tough final table featuring the likes of Jonathan Little and Josh Ariesh.
This tournament ran over the course of two days inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas. The top 23 finishers made the money, including five-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman (20th), four-time bracelet winner and three-time WPT champion Anthony Zinno (18th), bracelet winner Jose Barbero (17th), two-time bracelet winner Dylan Linde (12th), and bracelet winner Allan Le (8th) all making deep runs but falling short of the coveted final table.
The final day began with Guerra holding the chip lead among the six players remaining. Two-time WPT champion Jonathan Little was the first to fall, finishing sixth for $38,750. Guerra started off strong, scoring his first knockout of the day with a flush to bust Johnson Phanyaseng (5th -$46,500).
After losing a big pot, Guerra then doubled back into the lead, calling all-in with top set against the pair and straight draws of Arieh. The river bricked and he extended his lead when his Ad Ac 10s 8s overcame the Ah Qd 8d 6c of the three-time bracelet winner Sean Troha in a preflop showdown. Troha earned $77,500 for his third-place finish in the tournament.
Guerra started the heads-up with a 3:1 chip lead over Josh Arieh and didn’t take long to convert his lead into the title. The final hand saw Arieh limp from the button with Qc 10d 7c 3d. Guerra checked with Jh 8c 6c 5d. The flop brought 10h 6s 2c where Guerra check-called a bet of 600,000 and the turn brought the 8h. Guerra bet pot and Arieh moved all-in for 2,375,000. Guerra called and won the title with two pairs. Arieh took home $112,375 as the runner-up, taking his live earnings to nearly $13 million.

Dylan Weisman Goes Wire-To-Wire To Win Event #2: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty
The second winner of the 2024 PLO Series II was crowned in Dylan Weisman who won Event #2: $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty event after beating a field of 159 entries. He went wire to wire with the chip lead, knocking out all five of his final table opponents to collect $88,245 ( plus $107,000 in bounties) and capture his fourth PGT title of 2024.
The tournament ran over the course of two days and generated a prize pool of $795,000 – 40% of which was set aside for the bounty prize pool. The top 23 players were paid out, with Day 1 concluding with Samuli Sipila becoming the unlucky bubble boy.
Two-time bracelet winner Maxx Coleman (23rd for $5,247), Jordan Griff (15th for $7,155), six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus (14th for $9,540), three-time WSOP bracelet winner Jim Collopy (8th for $19,080), & WSOPC ring winner Zachary Schwartz (7th for $19,080) were some of the notables who ran deep in the tournament.
Weisman started the second and final day with the chip lead, and quickly added to his stack by eliminating poker legend Daniel Negreanu, as his turned top two pair was no good against Weisman’s flopped set. Negreanu failed to improve on the river and exited in sixth place for $23,850 and an additional $10,000 in bounties.
Weisman continued his domination, knocking out John Riordan in 5th place. Weisman hit the wheel on the J-4-2-3 board, ending Riordan’s run for the title.
Weisman continued on elimination spree and knocked out Bruno Furth (4th) and Sean Winter (3rd) to eventually enter the heads-up against the UK’s Richard Gryko. Weisman began heads up with a commanding chip lead. Gryko – a highly experienced PLO player – fought hard but could not go all the way.
After whittling down around 20 big blinds, Grykoc called a shove from Weisman on the 8-2-4 flop, holding As Qh Qs 4d against the Jh 8h 8d 5d of Weisman . The 7h on the turn did not help and the Ad on river kept Weisman’s hand best. Weisman won the pot as well as the PGT trophy.
