Swedish poker pro Niklas Astedt is no stranger to winning titles at the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). However, he recently pulled off an incredible feat by scoring a double WCOOP win in one hour. With his latest wins, he took his total WCOOP title tally to an impressive 10.

Astedt has long been regarded in the online poker circle as one of the greatest players of all time, so it was nothing new for him to win the WCOOP title. However, he won two WCOOP titles in an hour, creating history. This was the fourth time that he scored a double WCOOP win and with this he surpassed Parker Talbot who had won two WCOOP titles in a span of three days.

This year has been going great for the online poker pro, despite not winning any live major tournament. One of the major highlights for Astedt is this summer’s 55th World Series of Poker Main Event, where he scored a 3rd place finish for a career high-score of $4,000,000.

Here’s a recap of Niklas Astedt’s two victories in the 2024 PokerStars’ World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).

WCOOP 36-H: $1,050 NLHE Kick-Off Event Recap

Niklas Astedt aka “Lena900” scored his first victory in event no.36-H: $1,050 NLHE Sunday Kickoff of the World Championship of Online Poker. The event had a $1,050 buy-in, which attracted a total of 248 for a prize pool of $248,000 that was paid to the top 31 players. In the end, the lion’s share went to the eventual winner Astedt who overcame the likes of Ole ‘wizwizo’ Schemion, Ben ‘Spraggy’ Spragg, and Parker ‘Tonkaaaa’ Talbot on his way to victory. Astedt, who already has over $48 million in online poker earnings, was awarded $47,687 for his win.

WCOOP 39-H: $2,100 PLO 6 Max Event Recap

The second WCOOP title also came on the same night and it was in 39-H: $2,100 PLO 6 Max event that drew 114 (59 unique) entries to create a total prize pool of $228,000 and paid to the top 14 players. Interestingly, the second title came under one hour later.

The event featured some of the biggest names of poker, including bracelet winner Patrick ‘pads1161’ Leonard, Yuri ‘theNERDguy’ Dzivielevski. However, Astedt outlasted everyone to claim the first prize money of $51,256. This marked his career’s fourth double WCOOP win.

Parker ‘Tonkaaa’ Talbot Dominates The Leaderboard

Despite the two wins of Niklas Astedt, ‘Tonkaaa’ currently ranks 1st on the World Championship of Online Poker League Leaderboard. Before Astedt, it was ‘Tonkaaa’ who scored two WCOOP titles in the span of three days in the 2024 WCOOP.
