Lucille Cailly is from Paris, France. Before becoming a professional poker player, Cailly attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (2003 – 2004), followed by a Master’s degree in Philosophy at Université Paris-Sorbonne (2004-2005). 

Her career began in poker content creation and journalism, working as a poker content provider and reporter for the France Poker Tour at Carré & Co in Paris in 2009. Working as a journalist played a pivotal role in Cailly’s poker journey, as she was introduced to poker through her work. 

Lucille Cailly’s Poker Career Highlights and Winnings

Cailly’s first recorded live cash came in 2009, when she finished 2nd in an NLH event at the Marrakech Poker Open, pocketing $31,356. The next year, she participated in the EPT Deauville Main Event and made it into the money for a $19,252 paycheck. She followed it by winning the Wagram Poker Ladies Event in Paris for an impressive $3,295. 

The next year, in 2011, Cailly took down the March 2011 Main Event for a top prize of $37,045. In 2012, Cailly struck gold as she finished 2nd in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event, earning a seven-figure score of $1,386,267. With that win, she became a poker millionaire. 

Although Cailly still played poker, her focus shifted from poker to stand-up comedy and writing. After the runner-up finish, she cashed in four events afterwards, and her last cash came in 2015, where she rounded out the podium in the WPT 100NLH Charity Event for $1,558.

In 2016, she officially retired from poker, kicking off her career in stand-up comedy and writing. Her accumulated lifetime poker earnings are past $1.5 million. 

Leaving Poker and Becoming a Stand-Up Comedian

Lucille Cailly transitioned into comedy and writing after her successful poker career. From January 2016 to June 2019, she worked as a stand-up comedian and comedy writer in London, UK. During this time, she wrote and performed a one-woman show titled “How to Become a Poker Millionaire (and Still Be a Loser)” at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show blended humor with her experiences in the poker world, her rough childhood, drugs, and redemption. Since September 2017, she has focused on writing, continuing her career as a self-employed writer.
