Recently, we saw the conclusion of the Run Good Poker Series (RGPS) Main Event and the UKIPT Nottingham Main Event, where Preston McEwen claimed his sixth RGPS ring and Iran’s Arian Kashani achieved major success in Nottingham after an 11-year grind in the European poker scene. Below is a quick recap of these two events.
Preston McEwen Wins RGPS Tunica Main Event
RunGood Poker Series regular Preston McEwen claimed his sixth RGPS ring at the Resort Tunica for his victory in the $600 Main Event. The pro collected a payout of $57,206 and added a sixth rungood ring to his poker resume. This win pushed his career earnings up to $2.2 million. McEwen claimed his fifth RGPS just three days before in the $300 PLO where he outlasted a tough field on his way to the victory.
The $600 buy-in Main event, registered 598 entrants across two starting flights, which ended up crushing the $200,000 guarantee and creating a total prize pool of $304,980. A total of 71 players advanced to Day 2, already confirmed a payout of $937, but all of them were vying for the first-place prize money of $57,206.
Preston McWewn entered the final table as the chip leader and maintained it with his top-notch play to enter the heads-up against John Holley. The heads-up lasted only one hand as Holley, who held King-Seven, went all in on the very first hand of the heads-up duel. McEwen held pocket threes, which held up winning him the coveted title. Holley ended up picking $38,137 for his runner-up finish.
