The record-breaking 2024 World Series of Poker Online Main Event has concluded, with Austria’s Moritz Dietrich etching his name in history as the Main Event Champion and claiming the largest online poker payout in poker history.

The $5,000 buy-in Main Event attracted 6,146 entrants across 17 starting flights, surpassing the $25 million guarantee to create a prize pool of $29,193,500. This record-breaking pool was distributed among the top 620 players, with the top six securing seven-figure payouts.

A total of 620 players returned for Day 2, hoping for a pay jump. Several poker pros made deep runs, including GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu, who fell short of reaching the final table. After over five hours of play, Negreanu was eliminated in 128th place, earning $24,977.

Several Indian players also cashed, including the recent bracelet winner Tarun Goyal, who finished 353rd, taking home $16,087. India’s another bracelet winner Aayush Arya briefly claimed the chip lead on the final day but fell short of the final table, finishing 14th and adding a six-figure score of $186,746 to his earnings. Day 2 concluded after the final table was reached. Here’s a recap of the 2024 WSOP Online Main Event final table.

2024 WSOP Online Main Event Final Table Recap

Austria’s Benjamin Rolle entered the final table as the short stack, while Mexico’s Evgenii Akimov held the chip lead. Moritz Dietrich was third in chips.

Twenty minutes into the final table, the first elimination occurred when Audrius Stakelis’s ace-king couldn’t hold up against Isaac Baron’s queens. The Lithuanian player earned $502,771 for his 9th-place finish. Shortly after, Benjamin Rolle followed in 8th place, taking home $651,921.

China’s Hai Pan, who started the final table with a moderate stack, couldn’t maintain momentum and was eliminated in 7th place, earning $845,342. The remaining six players secured seven-figure payouts, but all had their sights set on the bracelet and the $4 million top prize.

Ilya Anatsky went all-in with Ac-Kc but ran into Diogo Coelho’s pocket kings. The Belarusian collected $1,096,180 for his 6th-place finish, a career-high online score. Shortly after, Coelho himself was eliminated in 5th place by fellow Brazilian Rui Ferreira, taking home $1,421,478.

Mexico’s Isaac Baron’s deep run ended in 4th place after suffering a bad beat to Akimov, who hit a straight. Baron walked away with $1,843,337. Three-handed play began with Akimov as the chip leader, and he soon eliminated Brazil’s Rui Ferreira in 3rd place, earning $2,390,418.

The heads-up battle started with Mexico’s Akimov holding 251 big blinds and Dietrich having just 48 big blinds. Despite Akimov’s massive chip lead, some quick double-ups by Dietrich closed the gap. Dietrich then took the lead after going all in with Ah-9c against Akimov’s Js-6s.

Dietrich never looked back. Although Akimov briefly regained some ground, another double-up left him short. The final hand saw Akimov shove with 5d-9c on a straight draw against Dietrich’s 8h-2s on a 6s-Kc-8c-3h board. Dietrich called, and Akimov needed a 7 or a 9 to stay alive, but the river brought the 3h, ending Akimov’s tournament run. He earned $3,099,896 for his runner-up finish.

Moritz Dietrich was crowned the 2024 WSOP Online Main Event Champion, claiming the largest online poker payout of $4,021,012.
