The atmosphere was electric, and the stakes were higher as India’s premier live poker festival, Deltin Poker Tournament, made its grand return with its first-ever DPT Grand. Held at the Casino Deltin Royale from October 22 to 28, the recently-concluded festival, marking the 17th edition of the DPT with 14 action-packed tournaments (two events were cancelled), awarded five DPT bracelets for the first-time ever in its history. Powered by Adda52, the series was nothing short of spectacular, attracting an impressive 2,300 entries and distributing over INR 8 Crores in prize money across 12 tournaments in its week-long run.
The festival wrapped up last Monday, crowning 12 champions. The biggest highlight of the series was the 60K Grand Championship, where the young talent Ashwin Vijayvergiya emerged victorious. He overcame a star-studded field of 421 entries, claiming the coveted bracelet and INR 34.01 Lakhs after a heads-up deal with Nikhil Gutta, who took home INR 37.14 Lakhs. Vijayvergiya’s epic win made him the single biggest winner of the series and the second overall, just behind Sagar Raj, who made history, winning not one but two bracelet events: Event #1: 11K DPT Grand Rush and Event# 6: 125K DPT Grand Highroller, making him the only player to win two titles in the inaugural DPT Grand edition.
