David Chen has etched his name in poker history by becoming the youngest-ever champion after taking down Event #5: $10,100 No-Limit Hold’em of the Poker Go’s 2024 Poker Masters at the age of 21 years.

Event #5: $10,100 NLH drew 75 players, building up a total prize pool of $750,000 and paying out the top 11 players. Several poker pros ran deep but failed to make it into the money. Among them was the 2023 Female Poker Player of the Year winner Kristen Foxen, who was eliminated on the money bubble.

Following Foxen were six-time WSOP bracelet winner and Event#3 runner-up Jeremy Ausmus (11th), David Coleman (9th), Poker Masters Event 3 winner Jeremy Becker (8th), Germany’s Samuel Ju (7th ), and two-time Super High Roller Bowl champion Isaac Haxton (6th) – all eliminated inside the money late on Day 1.

The final day began with Filipp Khavin in the lead and Chen second in chips. Sam Laskowitz was the first player to fall. Laskowitz exited in 5th place and earned $52,500. Flipp Khavin, who started the day as the chip leader, lost his stack against Collopy and fell victim to Chen’s Ah-8c while holding Ac-5d.

Chino Reem had a roller coaster ride at the final table. Reem started the final table as the short stack but saved his tournament life with a double-up. He then climbed the ladder, securing the third largest stack. However, he again became shorter after losing his stack to David Chen. In his final hand, he went all-in holding Qd-8c against Chen’s Kc-4d. Chen’s hand held up, sending Reem to the rail in 3rd place for $101,250.

The heads-up began between James Collopy and David Chen, with Chen holding the chip lead. Collopy closed the gap, but Chen extended his lead after winning a big pot against the three-time bracelet winner.

The final hand saw James Collopy shoving his remaining 9 BBs from the button with Ac-5h. Chen called the all-in with Js-9s. The board ran out 6s-3s-Ks-2s-6h, and David Chen became the youngest Poker Master Champion. Chen collected the 1st place payout of $217,500 and PGT points of 218.

James Collopy collected $142,500 for his runner-up finish and PGT points of 143 to secure the first place in the Poker Masters Purple Jacket Leaderboard.
